WWE Monday Night Raw Preview: 13 October, 2014

Milestones, Rock and some solid in ring action made last week special for WWE. Despite the positives there weren’t much improvement in their creative direction as the storylines seemed half baked with just two weeks away from Hell in a Cell. The remaining four shows they have before the pay-per-view would be nothing short of crucial for Vince McMahon’s promotion as the loyal fans are starting to lose their patience with the product. The Philips arena in Atlanta will play host to yet another episode of Monday Night Raw on October 13 and just like the previous outings, it would be WWE’s chance to pop a good cheer among the WWE Universe. And here is a look at what all we could expect from this week’s Raw.

#5 More Surprises please

Rock’s return was biggest moment of WWE programming last week. The great one came in and gave a reminder to everyone about what they were missing due to his run in Hollywood.

WWE not giving up the surprise return before the actual moment made it more effective and hid the flaws they had in the show to a certain extent. It was the same old trick of using nostalgia as a band aid in a forgettable show but once again, it proves to be a successful attempt.

Now after the success of Rock, the company could think about delivering more surprises in this week’s Show.

There are a lot of prospects that could be brought back for one night. They could also interact with the current array of talent and put over the youngsters like Rock did with the Bulgarian Brute at Brooklyn.

#4 Dead tag team division

The tag team division in WWE showed hints of improvement when the creative team started making new teams and injected them into exciting matches.

WWE Universe hoped to see the some credibility being breathed back into the mix but wasn’t the case. The Dust Brothers went on to get the titles from Usos and started having a run in which they barely won a match.

Champions having a losing streak are not doing anything good for the division and to make matters worse, the writers are not even mentioning about the title.

It would be a miracle if the tag team titles find a place in Hell in a Cell match card but it should be done at any cost as a first step towards recovery.

#3 Missing portion of the roster

WWE’s current roster has more inactive stars in it than the ones who come out every week and bust their rear for the fans.

Wyatt Family, Rey Mysterio, Christian, Roman Reigns, Ryback and of course Brock Lesnar make up the impressive list. Mysterio, Reigns and Ryback might have a good reason to point out but that isn’t the case with the other three.

Christian was cleared to compete way back and WWE is apparently afraid to let him in the ring or even use him as a personality. Wyatt Family meanwhile continues to give cryptic messages but isn’t anywhere to be seen.

Biggest problem however is Brock Lesnar. The WWE Champions hasn’t been on Raw after Night of Champions and he is losing the sting of his title run as a result.

#2 Bulgarian Brute on top

The superstar benefited the most from Rock’s return was Rusev. The Bulgarian brute that was previously restricted to squashing talent got to share the squared circles with the Brahma Bull which in turn got him a lot of mainstream attention.

WWE were making their intentions clear about how they want to book Rusev in the future and the match he had with Dolph Ziggler on SmackDown hinted the same.

He got a big win against the Intercontinental champion which puts him in line for a title shot. On the sad part of the story, WWE seems to have dropped the angle he had with Big Show due to the immense amount of heat that it got due to the flag incident.

Dropping such an angle would backfire on the company for sure unless they give Rusev a much bigger fish to play with.

#1 Cena found his CM Punk

CM Punk was arguably one of the best opponents John Cena had in recent history. There was this special aura about Punk which was incredibly hard to overshadow even with Cena’s superman push.

The two could’ve delivered much more Arena selling feuds if Punk hadn’t walked out on the fans and the company but the show must go on.

And the company just found a replacement for the straight edge superstar. Ambrose has all the ammunition to be the next CM Punk and his feud with Cena will make the path a bit easier for him.

If the company won’t bury Ambrose, it would be the hero vs. Anti- hero storyline that the fans will die for and will benefit everyone involved.
