WWE Night of Champions 2014 : 3 Possible Endings for Cesaro vs. Sheamus match

On the August 25th edition of Monday Night Raw, Cesaro defeated Rob Van Dam in a singles match and earned the no.1 contender’s spot for the United States title. This win proved to be vital for the former US champion who was out of the title picture and was had a setback in recent times. Now, he has the opportunity to wear a belt around his waist once again but he has to go through the defending US champion Sheamus at the Night of Champions pay-per-view. The Celtic Warrior is a tough competitor and it will be an exciting matchup between two men who are the emblem of passion inside the ring. So how will their bout end when these two lock horns inside the ring? Here are three possible endings to the US title match.

#3 Unification Chaos

Having two titles in the midcard might be one of the big factors that contributed to the lack of relevance that US title had. There aren’t enough midcarders or a brand split that the WWE could use to compensate for a two title scenario making unification essential.

WWE teased the same when they had the Ziggler, Miz and Sheamus together recently and wouldn’t be a surprise if chaos erupts at Night of Champions.

Even if the match ends in a no contest, WWE would benefit from the two champions crossing paths as it would lay the foundation for a feud between the two.

Cesaro might come out as a big loser from this but if WWE could cover it up with a Paul Heyman angle for him it would work out well for everyone.

#2 The Reign continues

Sheamus’ current reign hasn’t been anything that he should be proud about. He went behind the World championship while holding the US title which is one of the most degrading things that could be done by a champion to the gold.

However, the Celtic Warrior is one of those superstars who have been protected heavily by the company. If we analyze the run of Sheamus in WWE, it is more than evident that the writers have some special interest about him.

He is always just one step away from the main event and had occasional visits there as well. WWE would not hesitate to continue this run by letting Sheamus keep the title.

Sheamus has more backing than Cesaro at this moment which turns the table in favor of the former World Champion. However, it might not be a popular decision with the fans if the match doesn’t live up to expectations.

#1 Superman strikes gold

From the moment after WrestleMania almost everyone including myself were vocal about the heights that Cesaro was going to scale. These hopes got boosted when Paul Heyman was given to the Swiss Superman for the microphone works but it didn’t bear any fruit.

Cesaro and Heyman stuck together for nearly four months in between which Cesaro failed to evolve as a character. The lack of one on one feuds and proper booking might be to blame for this but then again, it’s Cesaro who suffered in the end.

Lesnar’s return worsened matter for the Andre the Giant battle royal winner. Heyman soon left his side and Cesaro had to spend his time as a jobber.

And all of a sudden out of nowhere, WWE decided to give him a title shot and if Cesaro goes all the way to win it, the story couldn’t be any better.

A title would keep him relevant till Lesnar goes out and of course, WWE could run the angle of unification with Ziggler and Cesaro which ensure some great in ring action.
