WWE Royal Rumble 2015: 5 Possible Winners for the Royal Rumble Match

The Road to WrestleMania is all set to begin at Royal Rumble on January 25, 2015 at the Wells Fargo Center in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. A new No.1 contender for the WWE World Heavyweight Championship will be crowned in the land of extreme on the day and the big question on everyone’s mind is: who will win the Royal Rumble.Headlining WrestleMania is obviously the main attraction of the rumble but beyond that, a win could turn someone’s career upside down. After botching last year’s pay-per-view with a Batista win, there is added pressure on the company to deliver the goods this time around. So here is a look at the possible names that could win this year’s Royal Rumble.

#6 The last thing we will expect aka Honorable mention: CM Punk

Punk might’ve made his intentions clear about returning to professional wrestling but the thing is, he still has a dream of main eventing WrestleMania to fulfill and after all, Wrestling is probably one of the most unpredictable sports out there.

#5 Sting

Sting made his much awaited debut at Survivor Series but we are yet to hear anything from him after that. A majority of the fans have concluded that it was a one appearance affair but the reports suggest that there are more perks in his contract.

The possible plan for Sting at this year’s WrestleMania is Triple H but if the company could deviate Hunter to the path of Roman Reigns then a Sting vs. Brock Lesnar main event for the WWE Championship would work for the pay-per-view.

This being Sting’s singles debut in the WWE will be a big draw and the title inclusion makes is much more effective. For that however, Sting needs to win the Rumble.

#4 Undertaker

From one legend to another, Undertaker returning at Royal Rumble and heading to WrestleMania would be nothing short of epic. Last time we saw Taker, he was a battered old man whose legendary streak came to an end at the hands of Brock Lesnar.

That same Lesnar will be heading to Mania as the champion and if Taker becomes the No.1 contender, it will present a match that is going to draw big fans into the arena.

Taker’s physique once again is a big question mark here but from the advertisements that are going around for Mania, Taker is scheduled to appear at the show. It’s clearly a bankable storyline but the youngsters will have to take a step back for the time being.

#3 Randy Orton

Randy Orton’s last heel run might’ve been a botched one but that doesn’t mean his face run would also have the same faith. Orton wasn’t able to kick start his face run properly due to film commitments but a returning Viper would be best for business.

He does have a score to settle with Seth Rollins but since he didn’t return at TLC, WWE might be putting that feud on hold for something better.

A baby face Orton would be a great opponent for Brock Lesnar at WrestleMania and the two could give out an epic encounter as well. Rollins meanwhile could be invested in a feud with Dean Ambrose. However, the only problem with this angle will be the lack of WWE’s courage to take up some risks.

#2 Daniel Bryan

A wounded warrior returns at Royal Rumble and goes on to win it. He faces a beast at the WrestleMania and does the unthinkable to win back his WWE World Heavyweight Championship. Thinking about the mere moment might give Goosebumps to some because it’s that good.

This year’s Road to WrestleMania was all about Daniel Bryan and his struggle to upstage the Authority. WWE could make him the protagonist next year as well provided he is fit for the matches.

The company has been missing him big time in the recent months and the flying goat returning for a sure shot success storyline is what Vince McMahon needs to sell WrestleMania. The return is also sure to break the internet and breathe some credibility back into WWE after they got overshadowed by NXT.

#1 Roman Reigns

Anyone who follow the WWE product would know that Reigns is the clear favorite heading into the Royal Rumble. He is slated to be the new face of WWE in 2015 and headlining WrestleMania would be the first step.

The Samoan Superman made a record at this year’s Rumble for the most number of elimination and this year, he could go all the way to win the battle royal.

This in turn would set up a match with Reigns and Lesnar at the granddaddy of them all where Reigns could be put over big time. The other names on the list getting a win only comes after this possibility since all the odds are stacked in favor of the former Shield member.
