WWE SummerSlam 2014 : Best Match Card that the WWE can give to their fans

As far as a wrestling fan is concerned, after WrestleMania is wrapped up, the next big thing that is in the list of awaited pay-per-views would be SummerSlam. The biggest even of the summer has always managed to deliver the goods for WWE fans and this year will not be any different. The company is going through an exciting phase with all the young talent and storyline running which has set up the road to Summerslam.Though there still remainsa pitstop called Battleground, it wouldnt be too early to take a look at the possibilities for SummerSlam. So here is a look at the best way in which the company could book SummerSlam to keep their fans happy.

#8 Usos vs. Wyatt Family vs. Stardust and Goldust (Triple Threat ladder match for Tag Team titles)

It cannot be stressed how brilliant triple threat tag ladder matches could turn out. The WWE fans have always loved this type of matches and at a tag team division which is slipping down, this might turn out to be a fresh breathe.

The Usos are known to be a very energetic team which can do wonders with the ladder. We all know what Cody can do when he gets up on a ladder as well. All the other three wrestlers will add the power game making it a kaleidoscope of styles.

There won’t be a better way to have the tag team titles on the line at SummerSlam and it would also strike the nostalgic chords for WWE fans that still cherish those ladder matches in the attitude era.

All three teams are good enough to carry the title around making this match unpredictable as well.

#7 Paige vs. AJ Lee (Divas Title)

Paige and AJ Lee are two divas who can represent the Divas division at any situation. The feud got sparked when AJ returned and took the title from Paige and is standing at an interesting turn right now.

Paige is yet to show her heel brilliance in the main roster and there is no one better than AJ to let her compliment that. The angle is bound to flourish in the microphone thanks to the talent that these two possess.

The fans wouldn’t be disappointed with the in ring action as well even if it doesn’t not carry any gimmick.

However, if the company adds some kind of gimmick to the match and let the girls do whatever they want, the WWE will have a great divas match to add into their archives.

#6 Cesaro vs. Sheamus (US and Intercontinental title)

The idea of unifying the United States title and Intercontinental title was in the rumors right from the start of the year. Back then, the company had the US title on Dean Ambrose and were finding it hard to keep it relevant due to Shield being strong.

However, the situation has changed drastically now. Sheamus is looking credible with the US title while the company looks set to crown a new Intercontinental champion soon.

This might well be Sheamus itself as it pushes forward the idea of one superstar holding both the title. In that case, the best opponent that Sheamus can have is Cesaro.

Cesaro has been pushed well so far but gold is still out of his reach. The company needs to change that at a big pay-per-view which points at a match like this.

#5 Bray Wyatt vs. Chris Jericho

Bray Wyatt and Chris Jericho has already drawn the lines for a great match at Battleground, but knowing the WWE, they might not waste all the resources available in this feud at a smaller pay-per-view like Battleground.

The feud deserves a place in SummerSlam as both the superstars couldn’t be used any better at the pay-per-view. Bray has been out of the limelight after his feud with Cena ended and this match would be his trip back.

Jericho also needs to build his legacy in WWE further and a feud with a younger talent like Bray will help him do that.

The result could go either way as both the superstars wouldn’t be hurt by the numbers in the ending due to their well-defined characters.

#4 Stephanie McMahon vs. Brie Bella (Brie Bellas WWE job on the line)

Stephanie hasn’t wrestled for a long time and Brie is not known for her wrestling skills. However, this is one of those cases where the company could use the cat fight idea to tell the story.

The match between Stephanie and Brie need not be technically brilliant, it just has to tell the story of Brie being desperate to get her job back and take revenge against Stephanie for the deeds she has done over the past year.

Back in the attitude era, the company had many matches like this, where two divas just came into the ring and brawled like it was a street fight. Something similar could be done and the fans are more than eager to see Stephanie get some beating.

The pop that Vickie Guerrero got for pushing Stephanie into the pool hints that anything done against Stephanie will be met with warm hands by the WWE universe which will make the match a success.

#3 Randy Orton vs. Seth Rollins vs. Dean Ambrose (Money in the bank briefcase)

Dean Ambrose is out on a mission to make sure that Seth Rollins will not cash in his money in the bank briefcase successfully. It’s one of the hottest angles that is running in the company and will easily be stretched to SummerSlam.

At the same time, Randy Orton is someone who slipped out of relevance after Evolution broke up. He is constantly involved with the title picture, but is suffering from the lack of character direction.

Orton will be left without a feud after his possible match with Reigns at Battleground and the best place where WWE can accommodate Orton will be in between Ambrose and Rollins.

The company could design another solid triple threat encounter and possibly turn Orton face at some point. The briefcase adds stake to the encounter which will be packed with action.

#2 Roman Reigns vs. Triple H

The friction between Roman Reigns and Triple H is out there to be seen and the match is something that the fans have been buzzing about for a long time.

After the Shield broke up, the rumors have been more than strong owing to the fact that Reigns was pushed right into the title picture. Reigns is closely involved with the Authority’s favorites like Kane and Randy Orton making his journey to Hunter easy.

Despite the age, Hunter is still one of the best heels that WWE has at its disposal and they cannot have a SummerSlam without him wrestling.

A match with Triple H at a pay-per-view like SummerSlam would be a great addition to the already impressive resume of Reigns and will set him up well for the next stage.

#1 John Cena vs. Brock Lesnar (WWE World Heavyweight title)

No matter how much hated John Cena is, he is the one to which the WWE has to go when they need to deliver a big atmosphere match. And there might not be anything bigger than Brock Lesnar vs. John Cena for SummerSlam.

Lesnar is at the best stage of his career after beating Undertaker at WrestleMania, Cena meanwhile is in need of a credible heel.

The dynamics are well placed for the match and it will be a main event that needs to happen in Daniel Bryan’s absence. The only problem that might poke up is the way in which WWE fans will receive Lesnar.

Anyone who went up against Cena was met with warm reactions and Lesnar getting the same would make Undertaker’s streak look worthless. Then again, it’s the only option that WWE has in terms of an internationally recognizable match and could do wonders if booked correctly.
