WWE: Top 5 Wrestlemania 31 opponents for Brock Lesnar

After months of absence since his epic victory over The Undertaker at Wrestlemania 30, Brock Lesnar made his anticipated return of July 21 episode of Raw confirming that he was Paul Heyman’s Plan ‘C’ for WWE World Champion John Cena who will be facing him for the titles at SummerSlam. The Beast has been viewed as the man to dethrone Cena and become the new champion at the upcoming pay-per-view on August 17. This move was imminent considering the fact that Daniel Bryan would be absent for a long time due to his injury and well the wrestling universe frankly want to see some new faces in the limelight instead of turning back time and time again to Cena. And Lesnar becoming the new champion can kick off several possible feuds which may range from hot talents in the current roster to some household names of the company. What would be better is if that encounter would take place on the grandest stage of them all, Wrestlemania. Here, we take a look at 5 best opponents who could face a possible WWE World Champion Lesnar at Wrestlemania 31.

#1 Seth Rollins

Seth Rollins currently is the Money In The Bank briefcase owner. He has the power to cash in his contract anytime, anywhere and anyplace for an entire year. That does make him one of the realistic contenders to face Brock Lesnar at Wrestlemania provided Lesnar remains the WWE World champion.

His only thorn between cashing in and winning the gold is his arch rival and former Shield partner Dean Ambrose. Ambrose has been spoiling his plans time and time again and has dedicated himself to bringing his former partner down. While that may go on for a while, the storyline between those two is bound to end sometime or the other.

It also leaves the door open for Ambrose to snatch the briefcase and cause the power to shift to his hands and then maybe he can take Rollins contention seat.

Until then, the road ahead looks good for Rollins to climb the ladder and face The Beast at Wrestlemania.

#2 John Cena

And then there is John Cena, who always turns out to be the go-to-guy whenever WWE falls short of ideas or is in tricky situations. The same thing happened after Daniel Bryan’s injury as regardless of many uprising superstars like Cesaro, Bray Wyatt and Roman Reigns, WWE decided to give the titles to Cena in order to give themselves some time and plan for the future ahead.

While John remains the current WWE World champion, and Lesnar is tipped to beat him at SummerSlam, we won’t be surprised if they revert back to him for headlining Wrestlemania 31. Although many fans have craved to see him back in the role of a heel from his Ruthless Aggression Era days, that angle will seem highly unlikely given the fact that Lesnar himself will be projected as a villain in the bout.

Only time will tell if Cena is continued to be viewed as the top guy on the road to the next year’s grandest event.

#3 Daniel Bryan

The Beast vs The Beard. A tagline that itself will generate Yes, Yes chants from the WWE universe. Daniel Bryan, until suffering a neck injury, was and still is the fan favourite superstar from the current roster. The former champion generated amazing pops on every night and established himself as the top untypical wrestler in the business.

But unfortunately, his great run came to an abrupt end after he inflicted a long-time injury which forced the WWE to strip him off his titles. Since then, there has been bad news following up for him and his fans as the situation has gotten worse and he has been ruled out of WWEs future plans for a long time.

But Wrestlemania is a long way from now and that gives him time to recover and come back to reclaim the belts he lost. And in order to do that, he will have to go through the Beast whichgives WWE a great option to setup a feud between the two at WM31. Whatever is the outcome, a storyline between the Underdog and a giant, a David and Goliath would be a very much welcomed prospect by the wrestling fans.

#4 CM Punk

It is really hard to pitch this guy in, but hey! Its the WWE. You may never know when a return happens out of the blue and to everyones shock, a CM Punk return is quite possible.

Of course, with all the current events and news between Punk and the WWE, it is quite safe to say that things arent going to be resolved anytime sooner. Punk was removed from the companys official roster page and Punk reacted saying that he never gave s*** about it. That does kill the hopes of many fans who were expecting a comeback from the Straight Edge superstar.

But, who knows in the near future, things may turn out to be different than it actually seems on the social media and Paul Heymans battle of the best clients may resume between Lesnar and Punk. And to see that go down at the grandest night would be something spectacular especially if the WWE World titles are on the line.

#5 Roman Reigns

Roman Reigns is probably the best option out there in the current roster to face Brock Lesnar. The lad is strong, has great moves, does amazing stuff in the ring and looks like an appropriate match for the Heyman’s client. He is also the hottest property in the WWE right now and many have suggested that it is time for Reigns to carry the torch and become the new face of the company.

It may be very likely that Reigns wins the Royal Rumble and headlines Wrestlemania as the contender to Brock’s probable titles. That would certainly be a mouth-watering clash between two heavyweights of the company.

With both these superstars excellent with their moves and in-ring movement, we can only hope that WWE does set up this much anticipated feud next year.
