5 WWE Superstars that keep getting overlooked

For every Superstar that gets the honor of being in a main event role with WWE, there are countless others never get that same consideration. The problem with this, however, is that there are some Superstars that deserve these top roles in the company but never get the chance to due to one reason or another.

While not everyone can be a top-level Superstar, especially with how competitive the WWE roster is right now, there are some that seem to just be repeatedly overlooked in favor of the company's chosen ones. Of course, WWE has their reasons for doing so and while there are some of them are justified, a few of them just aren't.

A lot of top tier talent are still waiting for their big opportunity or to be utilized more and here are five WWE talents that repeatedly get overlooked by the company. As always, let us know your thoughts in the comments below and be sure to tell us who you think the most overlooked Superstar is.

#5. Big E

Big E just never seemed to get the right opportunities in WWE

There's something about Big E that just screams star power, but the company has seemingly never utilized it. Sure, there would be an Intercontinental Championship run, or his tag team title run with The New Day, but he never had that singles success that some feel he rightfully deserved.

Keep in mind that Big E debuted as Dolph Ziggler's bodyguard and was billed as a legitimate threat to anyone on the roster. Unfortunately for him, he toiled in the mid-card for quite some time before being brought into The New day faction. And while the group has been wildly successful, he still hasn't had the singles success he should have.

In the end, Big E is a very powerful presence in WWE and can connect with any audience. Beyond that, he is hilariously witty, smart, and able to make anything entertaining. He is one of those Superstars that could grab the brass ring and one has to wonder why he hasn't yet.

#4. Mustafa Ali

Will WWE change their mind on Mustafa Ali?
Will WWE change their mind on Mustafa Ali?

Mustafa Ali might look like just another Cruiserweight in WWE, but his promos and his ability to connect with a crowd is what separated him from everyone else. In fact, between how Ali spoke in a poetic and positive tone during his promos, to how exciting he was to watch in the ring, the man seemed destined for some form of greatness with WWE.

However, due to one reason or the other, Ali has almost always gotten lost in the shuffle. Of course, there are still rumblings that he could be revealed as SmackDown Mystery Hacker later on, but even that probably won't be enough for a viable shot at a major championship in the near future.

Ali has been on the sidelines for way too long and could easily be an asset to whatever roster he was put on. Hopefully, one day, WWE does realize this and uses him to his full potential.

#3. Dolph Ziggler

Dolph Ziggler's career should have gone differently.

'It should have been me' was what Dolph Ziggler would repeatedly state during his feud with Kofi Kingston over the WWE Championship and it was absolutely true! Ziggler deserved to have a much better career than what he has ended up having so far and although he is still on the active roster, he continues to be used in mid-card positions.

Of course, some will point to his two reigns as World Heavyweight Champion as proof that he had his time in the spotlight, but a lot of people forget the details about how those reigns ended up. In fact, between losing the title in less than a week the first time and losing the title again after a prolonged concussion the second time, it's pretty safe to say he didn't get a fair share in WWE.

Now, the argument can be made that Ziggler was too injury-prone for the position or that he just didn't have what it took to be in WWE's top spot, but neither is true anymore. If nothing else, Ziggler has proved his detractor wrong over and over again and would be the perfect heel champion over on SmackDown right now.

#2. Naomi

How much longer can WWE ignore the glow of Naomi?
How much longer can WWE ignore the glow of Naomi?

Believe it or not, Naomi is a two-time Women's Champion and one of the most athletic Superstars on the entire WWE roster. Her promos are absolute fire, her athleticism is unmatched and she is wildly popular as well. The only problem, however, is that WWE doesn't seem too keen on her holding the top spot on the roster.

While it can be argued that SmackDown has less TV time than Monday Night RAW and thus can't afford to really give its women's division as much time on the screen, keeping Naomi off television for so long is just disappointing. Even worse, however, is when she does appear on SmackDown, she has been used to put over other Superstars like Dana Brooke and Carmella.

Again, it is not exactly WWE's fault here, given the time restraints and needing to give to build their top women, but watching her get passed up so many times is hard to watch. It's almost like no matter what she does, no matter what change she makes to her character, she will always just be some mid-card talent from now on.

#1. Kevin Owens

Kevin Owens is just one of those guys that keeps getting overlooked in WWE

Kevin Owens is arguably one of the most successful NXT talents to ever make their way to RAW or SmackDown and he has had quite a career in WWE. In fact, between holding The Universal Championship for several months, and becoming the company's biggest anti-hero, it's pretty safe to say that Owens is money.

However, Owens seems to be constantly overlooked lately and it just doesn't feel right. Not only is that evident by the momentum he gained after becoming an anti-hero figure in the closing months of 2019, but also by just how close he was to getting back into the title picture before WrestleMania 36.

Unfortunately for Owens, WWE put him to a feud with Seth Rollins at this year's Show of Shows and was off television for some time to nurse an injury he suffered at 'Mania. It was expected that he would be put into another high-profile feud upon his return but all he has done so far is put over younger talents like Angel Garza, Apollo Crews, and most recently, Andrade. While every Superstar does have to give back to the industry, perhaps WWE could have chosen another time for Kevin Owens to put over other Superstars.
