WWE News: What happened after Smackdown went off air? - 26th October 2016

An Intercontinental Championship match took place

After Smackdown Live went off air, The Miz and Dolph Ziggler had a match where Ziggler put the Intercontinental Championship on the line, with Dolph Ziggler coming out on top with the win.

Here are a few tweets from the fans in attendance:

According to those in attendance, it was said to be a PPV-caliber match. This seems to have been a result of the spot-on chemistry between the two. Last month at No Mercy, the two had a match that was considered by many to be a contender for Match Of The Year.

The intensity of the feud was upped when Ziggler put his career on the line. Add to the fact that The Spirit Squad came out as The Miz’s goons and Ziggler managed to get them and Maryse chucked out of the scenario made the victory all the sweeter.

Earlier in the night on Smackdown Live, Ziggler offered to put his title on the line against The Miz, but The Miz refused, saying that he would do it at his own time and when he was ready. Instead, he managed to provoke Rhyno into giving The Spirit Squad a tag team title match.

However, the Beauty and The Man Beast managed to overcome the duo after Rhyno hit the gore on Mikey to get the pin and retain their championships. As of now, we are yet to see whether we will have a Survivor Series rematch between The Miz and Ziggler or whether the two will be on the Smackdown team for the inter-promotional elimination match.

Since it seems to be an indication that the world titles will not be defended on the show, there is a higher chance that Toronto will get treated to one more epic match between Ziggler and The Miz.

Here is a video of the ‘Beauty’ Heath Slater and ‘The Man Beast’ Rhyno vs The Spirit Squad with their titles on the line from last night:

It was later confirmed on Talking Smack that both Heath Slater and Rhyno would be in the Survivor Series team for Smackdown as long as they managed to retain their tag team titles until the event.
