Sami Zayn recently participated in an interview with Myles from #Trending20 that airs on Virgin Radio, Dubai. Zayn in this brief interview discussed the brand split, his NXT Takeover: Dallas match with Shinsuke Nakamura, the SummerSlam match between Seth Rollins and Finn Balor, his ladder match for the Intercontinental Championship at Wrestlemania 32 and what’s next for him in the WWE.
The interview starts with Zayn saying that he didn’t know where he was headed after a long rivalry and numerous matches with Kevin Owens. Zayn thinks that the brand split is interesting and that it will provide him with a lot of opportunities.
Zayn jokes about failing to steal the show at Wrestlemania 32, as Michael Hayes was able to. Zayn goes further on to talk about his ladder match saying that it was a big deal for him as he got to perform in front of such a large crowd. He also mentions about his match at NXT Takeover: Dallas against Shinsuke Nakamura about which he says that he still receives tweets from his fans complimenting him for his match.
Zayn says that a lot of factors like fans’ reaction, work in the ring etc. makes a match great. Zayn revealed that Finn Balor thinks a great match is a timeless art that stands the test of time making it watchable again and again, by using Shawn Michaels vs. Bret Hart at Wrestlemania 12 as an example. To make non-wrestling fans interested in wrestling, Zayn shows them Austin vs, Bret Hart at Wrestlemania 13.
Zayn mentions that the match between Seth Rollins and Finn Balor for the WWE Universal Championship has the chance to be an all-time great like Austin vs. Bret Hart at Wrestlemania 13. On being asked what he further would like to do in the company, Zayn replies that he’s been drained from his rivalry with Kevin Owens, but he would like to be a part of something good.
Sami Zayn at WWE Battleground fought against Kevin Owens in the match which is undoubtedly a candidate for “The Match of the Year”. However, Zayn’s not in the main-event picture this time at SummerSlam, and will be teaming up with “The Man That Gravity Forgot” Neville against the tag-team of Devon and Bubba-Ray Dudley also known as, The Dudley Boyz at SummerSlam.
