WWE Top Five Rumors of the week and Analysis: 29 May, 2016

SmackDown face?

The rumor mill had a lot to buzz about this week thanks to the announcement of WWE’s brand split. There have been a lot of rumors about the same long back, but WWE dropped the news all of a sudden and it shocked the fans big time. Along with it, there has been a string of rumors poking around about the Money in the Bank which is just weeks away.

The returning John Cena also gave us a hot topic to talk about. So in short, the past week was nothing short of epic if you are a rumor junkie. With that said, we are going to look at the top rumors from this past week and how they could affect the WWE product.

Ric Flair to have a new role?

Flair to have a big role?

WWE dropped a big change in direction on Raw when they decided to split Charlotte and Ric Flair. Charlotte had a meaty heel promo and cut her ties with Flair. The same leaves Flair without much to do in the main roster, but WWE could come up with something for him. An experienced star like Flair would come in handy during the brand split, and WWE is apparently planning to use him without Charlotte.

As for Charlotte, WWE is high on Dana Brooke and although Dana is still developing as a wrestler, she could be lined up for a feud with Charlotte in the future after a turn from either of the superstars.

Huge plans for three superstars

Still high on AJ Styles

So we already know that WWE is high when it comes to Dana Brooke and three other superstars might also get major pushes in the coming months. One among that is Kevin Owens and we will see him later on this list. Second is Bray Wyatt. Bray is expected to return to the weekly programming soon, but he will return as a heel which is surprising.

AJ Styles is the third superstar in the list and despite his loss to Roman Reigns in two successive pay-per-views, WWE still has a lot of faith in AJ and he is going to be a main event star for the coming months, especially with the brand split in place.

Plans for SummerSlam

Rollins to win?

The rumored match between Roman Reigns and John Cena at SummerSlam could not be happening as WWE is planning to have a different feud heading to the show. The return of Seth Rollins refueled the rivalry between him and Reigns and WWE has already booked a bout for Money in the Bank.

The storyline is apparently not going to end there and we might get to see the series of matches between Reigns and Rollins stretch all the way up to SummerSlam. Brock Lesnar is also expected to play a major role in the pay-per-view but it is still to be clear who he will face. The name of Bray Wyatt is being tossed around but nothing has been confirmed.

Kevin Owens favorite to win Money in the Bank

Mr. MITB?

One of the major rumors that came out last week involved Kevin Owens. He qualified for the Money in the Bank match last week by defeating AJ Styles and from the looks of it; Owens is the favorite to win the briefcase. He debuted in the main roster by feuding with John Cena but has been limited to the midcard since.

There were rumors about Vince McMahon being high on Owens and it makes sense as he has been the best heel in the roster next to Chris Jericho. Owens winning the briefcase would be a big move for him and the fans will not have much to complain as well.

Roman Reigns and John Cena to be in different brands

Reigns to lead SmackDown?

The rumors about Brand split are flowing in like a tsunami on the internet; while some made no sense at all, a certain rumor regarding the top faces of each brand. According to the rumors, John Cena could end up being the franchise player of Monday Night Raw when Roman Reigns could serve the same position on SmackDown.

The idea is to keep Reigns and Cena away from each other as long as possible so that when they finally meet, it would be a hug draw for the company. Along with this, there is also a discussion going around about having two main championships but the same it yet to have a clear direction.
