9. Luka Modric (Real Madrid)

Real Madrid paid £33m for the Croatian midfielder, and truth be told is a massive amount of money for someone who hasn’t really settled into their line-up. United should take advantage of this situation and bid for him.

Modric is a creative midfielder who can not only score goals but he is also a pass-master with great vision. He also drives at the opponents and isn’t afraid of taking the opponent head-on. Modric is exactly the kind of central midfielder United need.

Chances of it happening – 5/10: Madrid are not crazy to sell him for only £25m, looking at how well he played with the Spurs and of course, the behemoth price he was bought for.

Price - £20 to 25m sounds right, because his form has dipped since he joined the Spanish giants.

England v Ukraine - Group D: UEFA EURO 2012

10. Yevhen Konoplyanka (Dnipro Dnipropetrovsk)

Known as the ‘Ukrainian Messi’, Konoplyanka rose through the ranks of Dnipro Dnipropetrovsk and has already cemented his place in the Ukraine national side. The No. 10 is only 23 and has scored 22 goals in over 100 appearances for Dnipro.

Chances of it happening – 4/10: Dnipro have slapped a 50m price tag on him but If United manage to sign him, they would only add to the legion of young stars they already possess.

Price - £10m to 15m sounds perfect, given that he hasn’t proved himself on the big stage. Regardless, he’d be a great addition to United squad.

Stoke City v Houston Dynamo

11. Asmir Begovic (Stoke City)

Begovic is one of the hottest properties in the league at the moment. Not only is impressive in goal and shot-blocking, he is amazing in one-on-one situations. He’d be a great buy for United, given David de Gea‘s weakness to crosses. But United aren’t crazy to just let go of a young superstar, with a huge reputation already.

Chances of it happening – 2/10: Begovic has already stated that he would like to stay put, but no player discards United’s offers without giving it some thought.

Price - £7m is just about right, given that Stoke have already signed Jack Butland as a replacement.
