Road Dogg believes released WWE star should be picked up by AEW: "There's money on the table"

AEW might get a lot of flak for always picking up WWE stars as soon as they leave, but the promotion has become an alternative for these wrestlers. According to Road Dogg, one of the promotion's recent releases should continue wrestling - perhaps in All Elite Wrestling.

Elias has been praised by many veterans of the industry for his gimmick as a guitar-playing wanderer. Additionally, the storyline where he portrayed his kayfabe brother Ezekiel after shaving his beard off and introducing many "family members" was fondly praised online.

During a recent episode of his "Oh, You Didn't Know?" podcast, Road Dogg expressed the belief that Elias isn't done in wrestling, and subtly hinted at AEW to pick him up.

"(He) 100% (has a future in wrestling). If the other place doesn’t scoop him up - I just don’t know why you wouldn’t. There’s money on the table with music.” (H/T Wrestling Inc)

Mark Henry and Bully Ray notably had a lot to say when they first heard that WWE had released Elias. Both veterans were upset and slammed the promotion for cutting him off instead of trying to use him.

Eric Bischoff also once speculated whether Elias would have a future in a promotion like AEW

With WWE out of the question - at least for now - if Elias does plan on continuing his career, he has a few options. Notably, he could easily jump to IMPACT Wrestling or NWA and re-establish his character, or he could go to AEW.

According to Eric Bischoff in an episode of his Strictly Business podcast, Elias' destination is something the star should take some time before signing with any promotion.

"I think that discussion is more internal than external — external meaning, I wonder if Tony Khan is interested in me, I wonder if I could go to IMPACT, I wonder if I can make a couple hundred grand on the indie scene. That’s a great conversation to have with yourself when you’re in your early twenties or thirties." (H/T Fightful)

It remains to be seen where Elias will end up going in pro wrestling or if he might instead pursue a career in music instead. Only time will tell, but fans were notably upset about his release from WWE.
