10 best Minecraft modded servers in 2023

Minecraft is a game that can be incredibly fun in multiplayer. However, much like singleplayer gameplay, the experience can be made even more entertaining through the use of mods. This allows for many different features on multiplayer servers, including custom mobs, new gameplay modes, player-specific commands, and much more.

Mods are an essential part of the Minecraft community, and many of the most popular Minecraft servers owe their success to the mods they offer. Some fans may prefer a more vanilla experience, but the massive amount of mods ensures that several servers stand out as unique in a sea of options.

Few server lists would be complete without Hypixel, Minecraft's golden standard for servers. Thanks to a heavy slew of mods, players can enjoy over a dozen minigames and several different game modes, including the hugely popular Hypixel Skyblock mode.

Thousands of players log into Hypixel daily, so there should be no shortage of fellow fans to enjoy the game with. However, if players aren't fans of heavily-populated servers, then Hypixel may not be their ideal landing spot.

Players can quest, accrue experience in various skills, take on tough bosses, and battle with blade, bow, and magic. Runescape fans should get a real kick out of this server, but players who aren't big on MMO mechanics may not consider Minescape their favorite.

3) PixelmonCraft

It's no secret that Pixelmon is one of the most beloved Minecraft mods available since it blends the best aspects of the Pokemon franchise into the game.

PixelmonCraft is a server dedicated to all things Pixelmon, so much so that it even has its own launcher if players don't want to use the default option that Mojang and Microsoft provide. In addition to building and crafting their way through the richly-made world, players will be able to capture, train, and battle a huge collection of Pokemon, with more being added to the server all the time.

4) The Mining Dead

Zombie survival mods are some of the most used in the Minecraft community today, and The Mining Dead utilizes many of them to create an unforgettable survival experience.

In this server, players will have to strike out solo or band together with friends to survive hordes of ravenous undead. Fortunately, they'll have access to tons of custom weapons and armor to carve out an existence in this bleak virus-ravaged world, but the zombies aren't the only problem. Hostile players are even more deadly than the shambling hordes, and players will have to account for both to stay alive.

5) MCBall

If Minecraft fans enjoy a little shooter action, MCBall may certainly be a modded server worth checking out. This server utilizes mods to create an experience centered around paintball, complete with paintball guns and even paint grenades.

MCBall also offers up plenty of different game modes that first-person shooter fans will know well, including Team Deathmatch, Search and Destroy, and even a custom-tailored Zombies mode. There are a ton of weapons and gadgets to choose from, allowing fans to customize their kit to ensure their success.

6) Grand Theft Minecart

Grand Theft Auto Online has been a hit for years, and the Grand Theft Minecart server brings its chaotic gameplay to Minecraft.

Players will be dropped in the middle of a massive map, complete with all the tools they need to rack up money and dominate. This includes vehicles, guns and melee weapons, and plenty of explosives and other gadgets.

However, they need to be careful, as the climb to the top is chaotic, and other players will be gunning for them once they start accruing money. It's a dog-eat-dog world in Grand Theft Minecart, but it's an incredibly entertaining one.

7) Vortex Network

Complete with a gorgeous cosmic theme, Vortex Network offers a collection of different modded game modes worth a Minecraft player's time. This includes multiple custom Prison worlds as well as modded Skyblock.

The server reaches a peak of over a thousand players online at a time, so fans should be able to find plenty of allies and adversaries as they make their way through the Vortex Network. If Minecraft players love outer space or custom spins on classic game modes, then this server could be a great landing spot.

8) BCraft Naruto

Although it may not be the biggest server out there, BCraft Naruto is immensely detailed and uses plenty of mods to bring the world of Naruto to life.

In this server, fans can join as a rookie ninja in one of the Hidden Villages of Shonen Jump's beloved ninja manga/anime. They'll develop their Jutsus and combat abilities, take on missions, and rise through the ranks to become more powerful. Players can even specialize in different career fields, including becoming a Medical Ninja or joining the Anbu Black Ops.

9) Brawl

Featuring mods built completely from scratch by the development team, Brawl may be one of the more unique Minecraft servers available. It provides plenty of fun game modes like Capture the Flag and Creative Build, but the biggest draw of the server is undoubtedly the Party Deluxe game mode.

This mode lovingly recreates the maps and gameplay of Mario Party in Minecraft, and it can be an immensely entertaining experience with both unknown players as well as friends. During the downtime between Party Deluxe sessions, Minecraft players can also participate in zombie survival gameplay with the custom-built WarZ mode as well.

10) Dirtcraft

If Minecraft players are fans of modpacks, particularly those associated with the Feed The Best community, then Dirtcraft is by far one of the best servers to check out. This network has over a dozen different modded experiences to undertake, and they can all be accessed via the launcher or directly from different IP addresses. If Minecraft fans are hunting for modded gameplay with tons of variety, Dirtcraft is incredibly tough to beat.
