Danmachi season 5 episode 3 recap
The episode begins with Syr imploring Bell to take her somewhere afar, where she can explore new things and enjoy freedom. Meanwhile, the Freya Familia members vigilantly observe the duo, ensuring Bell doesn't do anything to their patron. On the other hand, Ais and Hestia search for Bell.
Suddenly, Ais meets Allen, the Vana Freya, who strictly forbids them from interfering. Elsewhere, the Freya Familia members notice Bell and Syr entering an item shop. However, they are flabbergasted when the duo disappears from the shop.
The episode reveals that Bell and Syr used a magic cloak that allowed them to become invisible to others. They used it to escape the Freya Familia's strict surveillance. Syr was actually enjoying all the escaping and evading her Familia members, while poor Bell was actively running for his life.
Later, Bell Cranel takes Syr to St. Fulland's Cathedral, where the boy recounts the church's historical significance. He also recounts a tragic tale of an honorable knight, whose heart was torn between a spirit and a saint.
Eventually, the knight chose the saint, which plunged the spirit into despair. She even tried to kill him. Yet, in the end, the spirit protected the knight from an adversary, at the cost of her own life. The knight built the cathedral in honor of the Spirit who saved him. Bell points out the moral of the story to Syr that one should be ready to protect those they love no matter the consequences.
During their conversation, Syr tells Bell how much she adores him. Syr playfully asks him whether he will stop her if she ever goes rogue. She also asks him to take her to his place and treasure her forever, much to Bell's embarrassment. After spending a memorable time at the church, Syr purchases a twin accessory and gives one of them to Bell. She wears the other one on her hair and tells the boy that she will cherish it.
Following that, Bell takes Syr to Spoon Aqua, a boat restaurant for a dinner date. Interestingly, Ais, Hestia, and other girls from the tavern are already there to observe the duo. However, things go haywire when the Freya Familia members infiltrate the boat.
Syr then takes a risk and leaps from the boat, prompting Bell to follow her. The duo swims past the Freya Familia members' surveillance and enjoys a beautiful night under the illuminated moon.
After walking for a while, they arrive at the Heroes Bridge, where they observe the statue of Albert, a legendary hero who drove the fearsome Black Dragon away from Orario. There's a blank space on the pedestal facing across Albert, which is reserved for the Final hero who will defeat the ancient dragon and protect the world.
Meanwhile, Bell hears the Freya Familia members approaching. Syr assures the boy to let her handle it. The episode ends with Syr taking Bell Cranel to an inn. Interestingly, the room has only a single bed.
