Recently, spoilers and raw scans for Jujutsu Kaisen chapter 223 were released, offering fans a glimpse into the much-anticipated showdown between Gojo and Sukuna. According to the spoilers, Gojo commences the battle by unleashing a 200% power Hollow Purple, made possible by Utahime's Cursed Technique.

Sukuna suffered injuries from the attack, leading fans to become anxious about Megumi Fushiguro's well-being as Sukuna currently inhabited his body. Fans also criticized Gojo for attacking Sukuna without trying to save Megumi first. However, some fans believe that Gojo attacked Megumi's body to wake him up.

A theory suggests that Gojo attacked Sukuna in Jujutsu Kaisen chapter 223 spoilers to awaken Megumi

Jujutsu Kaisen chapter 223 spoilers have made it clear that Gojo is fighting with the intent to kill Sukuna. He began his attacks on the King of Curses with a 200% power Hollow Purple. The attack, enhanced by Utahime's Cursed Technique, eviscerated one of Sukuna's arms, after which Gojo reminded him that in this fight, Sukuna was the challenger, not him.

Fans were hyped to see Gojo fight Sukuna seriously in the Jujutsu Kaisen chapter 223 spoilers, however, they were also horrified at the possibility of Megumi being hurt in the fight. Sukuna is in control of Megumi's body so any attack Gojo unleashes would only cause harm to his own student.

Thus, fans have criticized Gojo for attacking Sukuna with such a powerful Hollow Purple and not trying to save Megumi's body first. Gojo's cold demeanor towards Megumi has raised a lot of questions and has been interpreted differently by fans. Some fans believe that Gojo is intentionally attacking Megumi's body to wake him up and overpower Sukuna's influence on his body.

Megumi has gone through a lot in the last few chapters and Jujutsu Kaisen chapter 223 will again see him fight Gojo involuntarily, unable to do anything. The death of his sister Tsumiki Fushiguro utterly crushed his spirits and made it easy for Sukuna to overpower him and take his body.

Tsumiki died at Megumi's hands, with his body being controlled by Sukuna. This is the reason Megumi's spirits were utterly crushed and he lost control of his body to Sukuna. Thus, Gojo has to do something drastic to awaken him and prompt him to gain control of his own body.

Thus, some fans are chalking up Gojo's attack to his trying to awaken Megumi by threatening his life because he believes that it is the only way his student is going to surpass his limits and release himself from Sukuna's control. In the past, it has been proven that Megumi, when faced with death always takes drastic measures and surpasses his own limits.

Gojo going all out on him and showing him no mercy might just be the only way for him to get his body back. He is currently drowning in despair with nothing to look forward to but Gojo's attack could potentially snap him out of this state.

Jujutsu Kaisen chapter 223 will be an important chapter for Megumi and it will give him the power to strengthen himself and stop Sukuna from hurting his friends and mentor. Chapter 223 is set to be released on Monday, May 22, at 12 am JST in Shueisha's weakly Shonen Jump issue 25.
