After returning from a long hiatus, Boruto: Two Blue Vortex renewed fans' interest in the series with a 4-year time skip. While there are certainly many noticeable changes in the ongoing series, especially the character designs, there is one particular aspect that has become the talk of the town among fans.

In Boruto: Naruto Next Generations, Momoshiki Otsutsuki was an integral part of the series, serving as a major antagonist who later took control of Boruto Uzumaki's body. However, he eventually decided to help the latter in challenging situations, since keeping Boruto healthy and happy was in his own best interest.

Due to Momoshiki's major role in the first part of the series, his absence from the ongoing Boruto: Two Blue Vortex manga puzzled fans of the series, who were left wondering about his fate due to the absence of official updates regarding his whereabouts.

Exploring the possibility of Momoshiki never appearing in Boruto: Two Blue Vortex

The ongoing Boruto: Two Blue Vortex manga has captivated the fanbase with its exceptional storytelling in the last few chapters, as it became one of the most-read manga of last year. That said, there was one crucial part of the story that was seemingly missing ever since the series returned from its hiatus - Momoshiki Otsutsuki.

Momoshiki had initially tried to permanently take over Boruto's consciousness by rewriting him, which was fortunately stopped by Kawaki. Following that, the Otsutsuki member was unable to take over the body of his host. However, he could still appear in his consciousness as a ghost or a vision, often providing advice, guidance, and criticism.

Momoshiki had realized that it was in his best interest to ensure Boruto's survival and well-being.

Considering that they were now permanently bound to one another, fans expected to see Momoshiki appear in the ongoing Boruto: Two Blue Vortex series. Since Boruto had a lot of time to train, it's possible that he learned to keep the Otsutsuki member's influence in check.

However, the latter ended up making no appearances in the second part of the series, which led some fans to theorize that he may never come back ever again.

Over the years, fans have come up with several theories about how Boruto might get rid of Momoshiki's spirit from his body, with the most popular one being Sasuke using the Human Path ability of his Rinnegan to extract the Otsutsuki member's spirit. This theory would make sense if there was any official confirmation that Sasuke's Rinnegan is similar to Madara Uchiha's Rinnegan. However, the theory is now no longer probable since Sasuke lost his Rinnegan to Momoshiki, shortly after his battle with Isshiki Otsutsuki.

However, the Spirit Extraction is still possible if the weapons of the Sage of Six Paths were used. Among his powerful arsenal of weapons, the Gold Rope is used to squeeze the Spirit Word out of a ninja, who's trapped by the rope. The Seven Stars Blade is then used to sever the Spirit Word, following which the Crimson Gourd records and seals both the Spirit Word and its speaker.

This methodology, although a bit strenuous, is a rather simple way to seal Momoshiki. However, there's not really enough conclusive proof that these weapons would in fact be able to seal Momoshiki and not Boruto instead. In the end, it depends on the Curse Word of the individual who is intended to be sealed.

Lastly, the Amber Purification Jar, which is the fifth tool of the Sage of Six Paths, would be the most convenient way to capture and seal Momoshiki. This particular tool is among the most effective and powerful tools seen in the story, since all that one would need to do to capture someone in the jar, is to simply say their name. If the intended person responds, their voice would be recorded and they would be trapped inside the jar.

Final thoughts on Momoshiki's absence from Boruto: Two Blue Vortex

At the end of the day, these are all mere possibilities. If Masashi Kishimoto decides to go along with any one of these situations, it would perhaps make the most sense for Momoshiki to be absent from the story. On the other hand, Boruto might have gone through adequate training to completely suppress Momoshiki's influence on his mind.

Since Momoshiki's presence was Kawaki's entire reason for betraying Boruto, it wouldn't make sense for him to still relentlessly pursue his former brother so that he could seal him away completely.

That said, Boruto: Two Blue Vortex fans would have to wait to find out more about Momoshiki's whereabouts.
