Mappa Stage 2023 saw the cast and crew of several anime series, including Chainsaw Man, Vinland Saga Season 2, Hell's Paradise: Jigokuraku, Jujutsu Kaisen Season 2, Attack on Titan Final Season, and Campfire Cooking in Another World with my Absurd Skill, participating in talk shows, presentations, and performances on May 21, 2023, in the Tokyo Garden Theatre.

However, fans were let down by the stage of Mappa's highly anticipated series Chainsaw Man. Fans who were hoping to see a trailer or a release date for the second season of Tatsuki Fujimoto's popular manga adaptation were left disappointed by the lack of any updates on the project.

The introduction of Chainsaw Man at the Mappa Stage 2023 began with the arrival of a mascot wearing a Pochita (devil) costume, which was followed by the arrival of voice actors Kikonosuke Toya (Denji), Fairouz Ai (Power) and Shogo Sakata (Aki Hayakawa). However, Tomori Kusunoki, the voice actor of Makima was unable to attend the event due to her health condition.

The event telecasted clips of famous scenes from the first season that the cast of the series were asked to pick from a bag by the Pochita mascot in between the talk show. All the while, fans were eagerly waiting for the release or an update of Chainsaw Man Season 2 trailer or teaser after the first season ended in December 2022 with a cliffhanger.

The only hint that fans have received was a tweet by Mappa in December 2022 that said "See you again" with an image of Denji and Pochita. This led fans to speculate that the second season was in production and would be revealed soon. Finally, fans were thrilled at the announcement of Mappa Stage 2023, which seemed like the best place to reveal any updates.

But the event ended with the cast displaying live-action figures, dolls and memorabilia of characters from the series that die-hard fans of the anime can purchase online. Although fans were entertained by the cast and talk shows, the event failed to meet expectations by not providing any update or information about the production of season 2 of the anime.

The event was being streamed live on YouTube, where viewers voiced their disappointment and rage in the comments area by questioning Mappa's decision to ignore one of their most well-liked and lauded programmes. Some fans have even claimed that Mappa neglected Chainsaw Man's audience in favour of its other series.

Mappa has not explained why any information about Chainsaw Man season 2 was not included in the event. As such, it is unclear whether the second season is still in development or has been delayed or canceled. Fans are hoping that Studio Mappa will provide some clarity and reassurance soon, as they are waiting to see Denji's adventures continue on screen.
