JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure always stands out because of its many protagonists. JoJoLands, the ninth and newest part, has just begun, and fans already have a lot of speculations. One of them is whether Jotaro Kujo, the most known and popular JoJo of the franchise, will make an appearance or not.

The short answer is no, Jotaro will not be a part of it. There are many reasons to validate that statement, which will be the basis of this article, as the reasons why he can’t show up are more interesting than the question itself.

Why Jotaro Kujo is not going to appear in JoJoLands

It's a different universe

JoJoLands is the ninth part of JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure, a manga series drawn and written by Hirohiko Araki since 1987. Each part of the story follows a member of the Joestar family, who carries the nickname JoJo and goes through crazy adventures with a merry band of misfits that they often meet along the way.

However, by the time Araki was doing the sixth part of the series, Stone Ocean, he decided that he couldn’t go on with the continuity he created and chose to end that particular universe with that storytelling, giving it a proper closure. By the time of the seventh part, Steel Ball Run, the series begins to take place in a completely different universe, with the eighth and ninth ones following that continuity.

While the Joestar family continues to be the focus, it is a whole new family tree, so a character like Jotaro Kujo will not be a part of the JoJoLands storyline. He is no longer an active character in the franchise and hasn’t been mentioned or shown in any way, so it is impossible for him to show up in Araki’s newest project.

Perhaps a reason for this question is due to the fact that a character from the previous universe, Rohan Kishibe, has shown up in JoJoLands. However, it has to be said that Rohan is a character very dear to Araki. He is the only one that has gotten a spinoff written and drawn by the creator of the series, which is saying a lot.

Jotaro and JoJoLands

Jotaro Kujo is the protagonist of the third part of JoJo’s Stardust Crusaders, which is known for introducing the concept of Stands in the series. Jotaro would become the franchise’s most popular character, and he would also have a prominent role in parts four and six, Diamond is Unbreakable and Stone Ocean, respectively, while having a cameo in the fifth one, Golden Wind.

The JoJoLands, meanwhile, is the ninth part of the series, and it tells the story of Jodio Joestar, a teenager that lives in Hawaii and works as a dealer at the underground crime scene. He works alongside his older sister, Dragona, who also takes care of him. However, despite his desire of wanting to get rich, Jodio doesn’t feel happy and struggles to build meaningful relationships with others.

Jodio’s boss usually gets him into trouble because of the different things he is tasked to do, and the story begins when he is requested to steal a diamond from the house of a popular manga artist that is staying in Hawaii, Rohan Kishibe, which sets in motion the events of The JoJoLands.

Final thoughts

Despite there being zero possibility of Jotaro showing up in JoJoLands, one of the appeals of JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure is Araki’s bravery to always try new things. He constantly shakes up the status quo and comes up with new concepts, storylines, and characters that have kept his series fresh and interesting, as there is always something new to discover.
