The New York Mets are getting stellar performances out of their prospects in Spring Training. Ronny Mauricio is hitting .500 with three home runs, five RBIs, and a 2.045 OPS.Not to get lost in the hype, Mark Vientos went nuclear in Saturday's game against the Miami Marlins. The young slugger went 3-4 with two home runs, five RBIs, and two runs scored. His second home run was an absolute blast.Michael Mayer@mikemayer22Holy shit, Mark Vientos went 469 feet at 111 mph for his second home run of the day. 78483Holy shit, Mark Vientos went 469 feet at 111 mph for his second home run of the day. https://t.co/lmSJx1FbdPIt's one of the hardest-hit balls anybody has seen in Spring Training. That's grown-man power. He's making a case for himself to make the Opening Day roster as the team's DH.Last season, the Mets platooned Daniel Voglebach and Darin Ruf at the position. It didn't go as well as they would have liked. Ruf struggled mightily last season, barely being productive. If they keep playing like this, the Mets won't have any other choice.Watch out for the New York Mets this seasonWild Card Series - San Diego Padres v New York Mets - Game OneThe New York Mets had a fantastic season, finishing 101-61 last year. It was their best season since 1986. Normally this is enough to win the division, but the Atlanta Braves held the tiebreaker over them. They didn't want the same thing happening again this year. They made some upgrades over the winter. Their biggest move was signing reigning American League Cy Young Award winner Justin Verlander. The Mets are going to have one of the most complete pitching rotations in the league. They have Verlander and Max Scherzer at the forefront, followed by Japanese flame-thrower Kodai Senga. The starting rotation is then followed by Jose Quintana and Carlos Carrasco. They didn't stop at their starting rotation, either. They bolstered their bullpen by signing Adam Ottavino and David Roberston. They'll be the perfect set-up men for Edwin Diaz, who the team re-signed this winter. There may be some low-scoring games in the Big Apple this season.
