Fans reacted as the Athletics reportedly enquired about Alec Bohm but lost interest when the Philadelphia Phillies asked for Mason Miller in exchange. While Bohm is a capable third baseman coming off his first All-Star season with the Phillies, Miller is one of the most promising relievers in the majors.
Hence, the unrealistic ask from the Philadelphia front office resulted in MLB fans roasting them over social media:
"We're about a week away from finding out he asked the Dodgers to trade Ohtani for Bohm," one posted on Reddit.

Another wrote:
"Phillies are so unserious"
Some took the chance to make memes of the A's reaction to the ask, while others took a dig at the Phillies front office for their unreasonable demand:
"Phillies GM like that idiot in your fantasy league offering his garbage bench guys who should be on waivers for your best players," tweeted AaronWMatthews.
"Didn’t they offer Bohm and Castellanos for Tucker too," tweeted chroissant.
"Who do the Phillies think Bohm is?" posted MarinersTrident on X.
Alec Bohm was selected by the Philadelphia Phillies in the 2018 MLB Draft and made his major league debut in 2020. He has grown at third base over the years and made his first All-Star appearance this year, despite falling below league average after that. However, with two years left on his contract, the Phillies seem keen on a trade for the 28-year-old this winter.
Mason Miller, meanwhile, was drafted by the Oakland Athletics in the 2021 MLB Draft and made his MLB debut in 2023, putting in some electrifying performances over the season. In 2024, he completed 28 saves in 44 games with a 2.44 ERA, making him one of the most exciting young relievers in the majors.
It's unlikely that any team would consider a trade for their most promising relievers for a third baseman in Alec Bohm. However, the Phillies seem confident in their evaluation of Bohm's value despite looking to shop him this winter. It remains to be seen if they lower their expectations as we get closer to Spring Training.
Los Angeles Angels reportedly contacted the Philadelphia Phillies for Alec Bohm
Since the 2024 MLB Winter Meetings, it has looked like a matter of time until the Philadelphia Phillies traded Alec Bohm to any team offering good value.
However, their ask for the third baseman hasn't aligned with any of their suitors so far. The Mariners and the Athletics were keen on Bohm until Philadelphia's response made them lose interest.
Los Angeles Angels also reportedly checked in with the Phillies about Bohm, but there have been no reported development thereafter.
