New York Yankees utility player Oswaldo Cabrera has said that his recovery process after surgery is going well. He suffered a left ankle fracture on May 12 against the Seattle Mariners.
It was a scary sight for players on the field, as Cabrera was visibly in pain on the field. Staff members immediately attended, and the 26-year-old was rushed to hospital.
Despite the painful process following surgery to rehab, Oswaldo Cabrera has retained his smile and joyful personality. He shared his motivating factor during the entire process:

“I want to (play), obviously. I’m not happy to be here and not playing. To be with my guys and watch them, I’m happy to watch what they are doing out there, but I want to be with them outside. That’s my motivation that I have, to do my things to get back sooner.”
He was seen riding his scooter in the NY Yankees clubhouse to support his teammates. While the team has ruled out Cabrera following his season-ending injury, the player himself hasn't given up on playing yet.
Yankees manager Aaron Boone mentioned that there’s only a “small possibility” of him returning to the field, but it all depends on how well he does in soon. Cabrera has been checking out all his appointments to make sure to return sooner, as he admitted hating riding the scooter everywhere.

After Oswaldo Cabrera was taken to hospital, he smiled when he saw his teammates and Aaron Boone in the room. Boone even said Cabrera made some quick retorts to lighten the atmosphere.
That stays true even now, as he rated his pain level to “an eight” out of a 10 scale. He shared a laugh following surgery, saying there were holes everywhere on his leg. It was mostly due to his ligament damage, as it had to be repaired with plates and screws.
Recalling the night he suffered the injury, Cabrera said that it was a “beautiful moment” to see how much the guys love and care for each other. He said that it was due to the hospital regulations, otherwise the entire team would have crowded the room.
