Jasson Doimnguez has been called up by the Yankees for Spring Training

Jasson Dominguez is an up-and-coming new-age baseball player who has already started to be compared to the likes of Mike Trout. He is touted to be the next Micky Mantle for the great franchise. The 20-year-old rose to fame when, at just the tender age of 16, he signed as an international free agent with the Yankees, worth $5 million in contract value.

Yankees fans who are hoping to see some of their young, brutish players take part in spring training will be pleased, as yes, it's happening.

Not only Jasson Dominguez, but Anthony Volpe has also been called up by the Yankees' management.

Dominguez has only appeared in five games at the Double-A level since turning 20. It appears unlikely that he will arrive in the Bronx prior to a potential September call-up.

Volpe, who is 22 years old and has experience at the Triple-A level, is closer, but his future is unclear right now. However, it's possible that either player's strong springs will speed up the process.

Jasson Dominguez is touted to be the future outfielder of the Yankees

It's easy to overlook the fact that he had an OPS of .837 last season while playing at three levels against opponents at least two years older than him. These positive developments, together with Jasson Dominguez's increased performance during the season, are encouraging.

He still projects an intriguing amount of physical strength, as well as above-average speed and power. Dominguez is a major league player; however, he probably won't follow in Mike Trout's footsteps.

In 2022, Dominguez (who was making his debut in the lower leagues) competed at three different levels, appearing to improve as he advanced. Through 120 games at Low-A, High-A, and Double-A, his slash line was .273/.376/.461, with 16 home runs and 59 RBI.

Jasson Dominguez only played five games in the regular season once he got to Double-A Somerset before igniting the postseason. A 3-4 effort with home runs from both sides of the plate in the championship game virtually guaranteed the Dominicans' spot at Double-A to start 2023. In five games, Dominguez hit .450/.560/.950 with three home runs and ten RBIs.

It's safe to say that Dominguez has shown his potential at home plate and in the outfield. It remains to be seen how soon he will get a chance to play for the Yankees at the highest level. With Harrison Bader set to become a free agent after the 2023 season and the Yankees still struggling to fill the left-field hole, Jasson may get his chance soon.
