RJ Davis is a guard for the North Carolina Tar Heels and plays as a graduate student in the 2024-2025 season. Davis hails from White Plains, New York. He earned a spot in the consensus All-America first team at the University of North Carolina (UNC). Davis is the first UNC guard to earn unanimous first-team All-American status since Joseph Forte in the 2000-2001 season. He was ranked as the fifth all-time player in UNC for scoring 2,088 points and is the all-time leader in free throws with 85.8%. Davis led the team in both scoring and assists several times throughout his career with a career-high 42 points against Miami and scoring double figures 106 times. During the NCAA Tournament, he was ranked second for free throw percentage with 91.3%.

RJ Davis attended Archbishop Stepinac High School in White Plains, New York. Davis was the 2020 Gatorade High School Player of the Year in New York and was the first player in school history to be named New York's Mr. Basketball. He also broke the all-time scoring record for Westchester County with 2,446 points during his senior season, beating the previous record by Danya Abrams. As a senior, he averaged 26.5 points, 8.0 rebounds, 5.3 assists, and 2.1 steals and led Stepinac to several titles, including city and state championships. Davis also participated in several high-profile high school all-star games, including the McDonald's All-American Game and Jordan Brand Classic.
