He finished his career with 12400 runs from 134 matches. The former skipper averaged 57.41, the highest among Sri Lankan batsmen and also the highest in this list. He had 38 hundreds and 52 fifties to his name, with the highest score of 319.
One of the finest batsmen to ever play the game, Sangakkara stands fifth in the list of fours in Tests, with 1491 fours accompanied by 51 sixes.
#4 Ricky Ponting (Australia) - 1509 fours
The World Cup-winning Aussie skipper Ricky Ponting was a key part of the golden era of Australian cricket. Ponting made the number 3 position his own, with a record of most runs at number 3 in Tests. He aggregated 13378 runs from 168 Tests at an average of 51.85.
His tally of 41 hundreds is the third most in Test cricket, accompanied by 62 fifties, with the highest score of 257. The former skipper hit 1508 fours in his test career and stands fourth in this list, along with 73 sixes.
