Fans were anticipating similar emotions from the trailer of Sachin Tendulkar’s biopic. But the 2:07 minutes long trailer exceeds our expectations. From Sachin the curly-haired mischievous baby to the Master Blaster seated on the shoulders of Yusuf Pathan and Suresh Raina on that fairytale of a night of April 2, 2011, the cricketing messiah’s long-journey-cut-short manages to raise the bumps on your skin in only two minutes.

#1 The naughty, curly-haired, cute Sachin
We have closely followed the Sachin who, for most of his career, united a one billion strong nation every time he came out in the blue of India. But Sachin the mischievous baby, troubling his neighbour to an extent that provokes him to say, “pareshan kar diya hai mujhe society ke baccho ne” is not something that we know. (the Hindi dialogue translates to – the kids in the society trouble me a lot)
Baby Sachin is seen playing pranks with the neighborhood children, and even deflating a neighbor’s car tyre! Who would have thought that the calm and composed batsman was once a trouble maker? And what’s more adorable? The kid who plays baby Sachin makes you go all aww on his cuteness and acting skills!
#2 Sachin the cricket fan
Sachin the cricket fan sounds unusual, when all we’ve known is Sachin, the Little Master. The trailer gives a quick insight to what triggered Sachin’s love for the game. Sachin, in his own narration, reveals that he was all of 10 years when Kapil Dev-led India won the World Cup in 1983.
He is seen cheering the then Indian team on his black and white television screen, with the same enthusiasm we have cheered for him all his career.
It was the cup from 1983 which determined Sachin to follow Dev’s suit, become a cricketer, and win India another World Cup. Sachin the young, passionate cricket lover keeps you wondering more about his journey to stardom.
#3 Anjali Tendulkar’s description of Sachin’s love for cricket
“Cricket pehle tha, hum sab baad mein (Cricket was the first priority, then us),” tells Anjali, who is six years older to her lover turned husband. A doctor by profession, Anjali goes on to narrate that she and the family made peace with the fact that Sachin would always prioritize cricket over them .
However, it was when she reveals that Sachin would spend sleepless nights every time India underperformed is what fills you with emotions.
“Jab bhi team acha nahi khelti thi, toh wo itna pareshan hota tha ki raat ko so bhi nahi pata tha (When the team didn’t play well, he would’ve sleepless nights),” she tells.
#4 MS Dhoni’s surprise appearance
Just when you thought the video would end with moments from the 2011 World Cup final, India’s second most worshipped cricketer after Sachin makes a surprise appearance! MS Dhoni, a Sachin fan, recollects those days when most present cricketers grew up watching Sachin play.
“I would tell people at home, that when Sachin comes to bat, mujhe bata dena (tell me).”
Little would have Dhoni known back then that he would himself realise Sachin’s dream of winning a World Cup for India, after a painful wait of 28 long years. Dhoni’s four seconds appearance in the trailer makes it even more emotional.
#5 The closing line
The end of any trailer is always such that it keeps you asking for more. And that is what the trailer of Sachin: A Billion Dreams also does.
The trailer ends on a closing line which encapsulates the God of Cricket. “Cricket Khelna, mere liye mandir jaane ki tarah tha (Playing Cricket was like going to the temple for me)!”
Sachin tells you that playing cricket for him meant paying a visit to the temple – that is what the game meant to him, a game for which he gave his everything. Just the way worshippers chant mantras outside temples, the trailer shows the stadiums reverberating to the shouts of ‘Sachin, Sachin’, and that is the most memorable scene of the trailer.
