Arthur Watson

Arthur Watson is a former Australian international umpire, born on 11 October 1940 in New South Wales, Australia.

Arthur is a highly respected official and is famous in his career. He has been a member of NSW Cricket Umpire’s and Scorers’ Association (NSWCUSA) for a long time.


Umpiring Career


Arthur has officiated in 3 ODI matches, the first one being his debut on Nov 28, 1979 in game of England v West Indies at Sydney Cricket Ground.


Arthur has umpired in 10 first class matches from 1979 to 1981, matches of New South Wales and West Indies were also officated by him.


Arthur has also umpired a women’s ODI match between teams Australia and New Zealand at Oakes Oval in Lismore. He was also incharge of One Day domestic matches and under 19 Test match between Australia and Pakistan.


The Australian has officiated in more matches for Sydney Grade / NSW Premier Cricket than any other umpire in the history of cricket. Matches umpired by him include 365 1st Grade matches, 60 2nd grade, 83 3rd grade, 129 4th grade, 92 5th grade and a total of 29 matches for Shires.
