Australia U-19 squad announced for England series

Melbourne, Feb 6 (IANS) Cricket Australia (CA), on Friday, announced its Under-19 team that will take on U-19 England as part of its preparations for the 2016 U-19 World Cup in Bangladesh.

The team will play England U-19 in Perth before a reciprocal tour later this year. The series includes a two-day warm-up game, a four-day match at the WACA and five one-day matches -- two in Bunbury and three at Murdoch Universit from March 25 to April 22. Australia U-19 is coached by Graeme Hick, who is assisted by Troy Cooley.

Before facing England, the team will also play warm-up games against Papua New Guinea between February 9-13 – which will be followed by a talent camp between March 16-20.

"We had a team go away to Sri Lanka late last year which contained some of the players named for the English series while there were a number of good individual efforts at the nationals which we took into account in picking the team," CA National Talent Manager Greg Chappell said.

"A number of the players have also received additional exposure and experience recently through their ties to Big Bash League (BBL) clubs as community or development rookies or on the various supplementary lists."

The squad will be captained by left-handed batsman Jaron Morgan.

The squad: Matt Short, Jaron Morgan, Jake Carder, Sam Harper, Patrick Page, Jake Doran, Sam Heazlett, Tom Healy, Riley Ayre, Jhye Richardson, Henry Thornton, Guy Walker, David Grant, Sam Rowley, Sam Grimwade.
