In a recent development, the BCCI has decided to appoint a permanent manager for the Indian Cricket team in the future. Till now, managers were appointed on a tour-by-tour basis, but the board has decided to follow the system adopted by South Africa, Australia, and England.

BCCI top officials along with the coach, captain, and selection committee were instrumental in making the move when they met on Monday. The current team manager of South Africa is Mohammad Moosajee who succeeded Goolam Raja. Steve Bernard is the official manager of Australia, while Mike Sandle serves for the New Zealand Cricket team, Phil Neale for England and Riche Richardson for the West Indies Cricket team.

The policy of appointing state representatives as Team managers will be abolished as per the statements of BCCI. According to reports in the Mumbai Mirror, speaking on the matter, BCCI Secretary Ajay Shirke said, "That is the plan. We're going to have a professional manager soon.”
