A few days ago, South Africa completed an unprecedented whitewash against Australia, meaning that they generated an enormous head of steam heading into their away assignment against India.

However, away from the cricketing factors, the Proteas have endured a furrowed brow or two, considering the outbreak of Coronavirus in India.

On Monday, the registered number of cases in the country exceeded 40, thereby casting a significant cloud over how South Africa would approach the upcoming tour and how they planned to tackle the threat.

Mark Boucher, the Proteas’ Head Coach, despite acknowledging the dangers, expressed that they were well prepared and intended to take all the necessary precautions to ensure that their 3-match ODI series wouldn’t be plagued by the virus. He stated,

With regards to handshakes and type of stuff that’s a concern, so it will probably be fine if we do the same if it comes to that. I think it’s a way to stop anything from happening to our guys.

He further elaborated,

I think it's out of respect for players around you and not to pass on something that you might have. Covid19 is a concern and we had a nice brief last night from medical staff about the virus. We have taken their recommendations and I am sure they have put stuff in places that's going to help us.
