Even though Cricket and WWE are two highly contrasting sports with very minute similarities, they both often witnessed personalities with similar characters.

The rules, regulations, and stipulations might vary a lot between professional wrestling and cricket, but several players from both the spectra of entertainment resemble each other in terms of achievements, attitudes, traits, hallmarks and other features.

Here is a list of five such players from both the fields who have a similar outlook on various attributes of life.

#5 Kevin Pietersen and CM Punk - Rift with management

Kevin Pietersen was a flamboyant, outspoken, stylish modern-day batsman. He innovated the switch-hit in cricket which was a highly popular yet controversial shot. Kevin Pietersen had the ability and zeal to perform as a big-time player and could hit hard hitting shots with ease. His talent was such, that despite being rejected by the national squad, he was always the first preference over other players for any of the domestic teams he represented. He used to occasionally bowl off-spin and was successful in breaking many partnerships. However, he could not get along with his team management and was sidelined from the national side. He even retired once but did make a return back to the squad.

CM Punk was an 'agent of change' in the WWE. He always wanted to opine and didn't toe the company line. He was back to back and the first ever two times Money in the Bank match winner. He held various championships in WWE, including the WWE title for a record number of 434 days. Punk had unique moves and his kicks were his assets. He has a huge fan following and they still hope he comes back from his retirement. However, Punk was an anti-management kind of person who had issues with the WWE and thus does not intend to come back.

This two personalities, despite being from two different sports industry has many similarities in their mannerism and daily practices.

#4 AB de Villiers and AJ Styles (innovation)

Both ABD and A.J. are innovative performers.
Both ABD and A.J. are innovative performers.

ABD is a South African international cricketer, whose batting skills and techniques are unparalleled to any batsmen across the cricketing fraternity. He also captained the national side in all three formats of the game. The reason he has done so well is that of his unique style, offensive innovation and shot selection. He is also called Mr 360 because of an unorthodox shot behind the wicket-keeper and slips he presented to the game of cricket. He holds many records, including the world's fastest ODI 50, 100 and 150, and the fastest Test century by a South African and also the fastest T20I 50 by a South African. His innovative ability makes him the no. 1 batsman in all the three formats.

A.J. Styles, the 'phenomenal' one is cited as the best wrestler in the world at present. His high-flying, risk-taking, and creative moves make him an undisputed no. 1 brawler in professional wrestling. He has won the United States Championship twice, as well as the WWE championship twice within a short span of time in the WWE and is the poster boy for SmackDown Live. He also feuded with some big names in WWE like John Cena, Chris Jericho and others. While most wrestlers repeat the same moves, Styles keeps on invoking some new shots or the other.

These two players are loved by their fans all across the world because of their capability to introduce new techniques.

#3 Vivian Richards and Braun Strowman (Destroyer)

Back in the day, Sir Vivian Richards toyed with the bowlers. His records speak for himself as bowlers across the globe used to crave for his wicket. He was the first outrageously aggressive batsman world cricket had seen, a pioneer in his own right. Richards owns several records to his name. Regarded as perhaps the greatest batsmen of all times, he scored 35 international centuries, which is the 4th highest by any Caribbean cricketer. He also took a combined number of 150 wickets from both ODI and Test cricket. As a captain of the test team, he won 27 of 50 matches and losing in only 8. A destructive batsman who massacred bowlers at his will, his opponents used to fear his presence at the crease.

Braun Strowman, on the other hand, is a 'Monster Among Men'. This giant can flatten opponents of any size within a blink of an eye. Has left the likes of Kane, Big Show, Roman Reigns and various other superstars reeling in his path of destruction. Everyone's intimidated by the fearless strongman. Between 2016-17, Strowman maintained an undefeated streak in WWE as he won all of his matches in that time period. He showed his enormous power and strength on several occasions like when he crushed a steel cage door, or when he imploded the ring while performing a move on the Big Show.

Richards and Strowman have one and only one motive -- pulverize and victimize their rivals to submission.

#2 Steve Waugh and Undertaker (Undefeated Streak)

Steve Waugh was one of the greatest captains in the history of the game with a captaincy career spanning from 1994- 2004. During his tenure at the helm, Australia won 16 consecutive Test matches and 14 ODI games on the trot. No captain has been able to touch the record. It was under his captaincy that Australia won 1999 cricket world cup. In test matches, barring Sri Lanka, Australia defeated all the other teams that they played against, under his regime. Apart from having an outstanding record as the skipper, he was also a fine batsman and a solid fielder. He was also a fantastic bowler and possess several records behind his name.

Similarly, Undertaker is undoubtedly one of the greatest entertainers in professional sports entertainment. However, he will always be cherished for his 21 consecutive victories at the grandest stage of them all, WrestleMania. His unbelievable streak of twenty-one wins is the stuff today's upcoming wrestler's dream of emulating. Undertaker won 15 championships in WWE apart from his other attainments. There is barely any superstar whom he has not been able to defeat. He was perhaps the most dreaded superstar WWE ever had.

Interestingly, both Waugh and Taker have their brothers, despite the latter being kayfabe. Both the elder brothers made an impact unfathomable for the sibling to live up to.

These two mortal human beings, however, suffered losses and their streak was conquered. Their personality, thus, can be compared in several ways, despite coming from different sports.

#1 Sachin Tendulkar and Hulk Hogan (Gods)

In cricket, Sachin Tendulkar is someone who has not only conquered but created records of all sorts. Apart from being the leading run-scorer in both Test and in ODI matches, he is the first man to score 200 runs in an ODI match along with his 100 international centuries. He also scored the maximum number of half-centuries in international cricket. He was the highest run-scorer in the 2003 world cup and was a part of the Indian team which won the world cup in 2011. Apart from batting, he used to bowl leg spin and has over 200 wickets in his name. He even captained team India, though the team did not enjoy much success. Tendulkar has also been awarded the highest civilian order in India. Fans across the globe worship the World-cup winning idol.

Hulk Hogan is a six-time world champion in WWE and is the first ever back to back Royal Rumble match winner. During his tenure in WWE, he used to regularly headline main events and pay-per-view contests. His signature move, the 'Leg drop' was highly popular amongst his fans and many wrestlers over the years have tried to perform the same but none of them could enjoy such success. He is regarded as the most significant contributing factor to the WWE juggernaut. The most talked about match of his career was against Andre the Giant at WrestleMania 3, which he won by body slamming the 520 lb wrestler. No other superstar could ever attain the legendary status that he earned through his work. Hulk Hogan has done it all and the fans absolutely adore him, which is evident by the pops he gets.

Hulk Hogan and the Little Master would be considered gods if pro wrestling and cricket become religions overnight. The two icons will forever be recognized as the greatest flair ever to step foot in their respective domains. The contributions of these two living legends have given them godly status amongst the fan base and will forever be remembered for generations to come.
