The Auction for the 2019 edition of the Indian Premier League is set to take place on the 18th of December. Among the 346 players going under the hammer, there are 120 capped and uncapped overseas players. Chennai Super Kings is the only team this season which has exhausted the maximum limit of overseas players and thus will not be able to pick any overseas player any further. The number of overseas players which other teams can pick is as follows:

  2. Mumbai Indians - 1
  3. Rajasthan Royals - 3
  4. Delhi Daredevils - 3
  5. Royal Challengers Bangalore - 2
  6. Kolkata Knight Riders - 5
  7. Kings XI Punjab - 4

The overseas players which will be on the radar of every team owing to their lucrative tag of 50 lakhs are as follows.


#1 Shimron Hetmyer

Shimron Hetmyer has made huge strides in international cricket since making his debut for the Windies in the ODIs and Tests in 2017. Hetmyer has been a key prospect for Windies cricket having captained the Windies to their maiden Under 19 World Cup title in 2016. The youngster was one of the top three run scorers in the recently concluded ODI series in the Windies tour of India. He was also the top scorer for the Windies with 256 runs in five games at an average of 51.80. He scored these runs with a strike rate of 140.

He was also the third highest run-scorer in the Caribbean Premier League in 2018. He scored 440 runs in 12 games for the Guyana Amazon Warriors with an average of 40. He scored these runs with a strike rate of 148.14 which was also one of the best in the tournament.

He was the most dangerous batsman for the Windies and posed a major threat to the Indian bowlers in the ODI series. His base price of 50 lakhs makes him all the more lucrative and he will definitely be a player who will be going for big money.

Hazratullah Zazai became a household name after he recently smashed six sixes in an over in the Afghanistan Premier League while playing for Kabul Zwanan against the Balkh Legends. Zazai achieved this feat in front of his idol Chris Gayle who was playing against him. Zazai became the 6th batsman in the history of competitive cricket and third cricketer in T20s to achieve this feat. He smashed the bowlers all around the park as he ended as the second highest run scorer in the tournament scoring 322 runs in 10 games with a terrifying strike rate of 193.97.

Following his success at the Afghanistan Premier League, he was picked up by the Maratha Arabians for the inaugural edition of the T10 league. He scored over 200 runs in nine games with a strike rate of 213.82.

Zazai recently featured in Afghanistan tour of Ireland where the smashed the Irish bowlers with consecutive 70 plus scores in the first two T20s to guide Afghanistan to a 2-0 victory over Ireland. The youngster will be on the radar of all the teams with his attacking style of play.

Mohammad Shahzad is one of the most entertaining and admired cricketers around the world. One of his most iconic innings came in the recently concluded Asia Cup where he smashed the Indian bowlers all over the park to score a quickfire 124 runs off 116 balls. The wicket-keeper batsman has been a part of the Afghanistan team since making his debut in 2009. He has been influential in their growth from playing in the fifth division to achieving a full member’s status.

He was the highest run scorer in the inaugural edition of the Afghanistan Premier League with 344 runs in nine games. He was also a part of the inaugural edition of the T10 league where he was picked by the Rajputs. He started the tournament off with a breathtaking inning of 74 runs in 16 balls with an unbelievable strike rate of 462.50.

The experienced Afghan keeper will be on the wish list of every team for his fearless style of play.

The 21-year-old pacer from Jamaica left everyone amazed after he left the experienced Indian openers Rohit Sharma and Shikhar Dhawan bamboozled in the First T20 of the Windies tour of India. His ability to bowl consistently at over 145 mph left the Indian batsman surprised as he sent both of them back to the pavilion by the end of the second over in the T20.

He recently made his ODI and T20 debut against India. The 6-foot Jamaican was also the second highest wicket-taker in the 2018 Caribbean Premier League with 18 wickets to his name coming at an average of 17.66. His fierce pace rolled the time back to when the Windies bowlers were feared all around the world due to their blistering pace bowling.

His express pace will be an asset for any team in the death overs.

Aiden Markram made his Test and ODI Debut for South Africa in 2017. He had earlier led the South Africa Under-19 team to victory in the Under 19 World Cup in 2014 where he was even named the Player of the Series.

He had a flying start to his international Test carrier as he scored 255 runs at an average of 85 in the two-match Test series against Bangladesh. He also notched up his first Test century in the second Test where he scored 143 runs. He made his ODI debut in the final ODI of the series against Bangladesh where he scored a quick fire 66 of 60 balls and picked up two wickets in his three-over spell.

He was later on named as one of the five players for the South Africa Cricketer of the year. He was handed over the captaincy of the ODI team against India after Du Plessis got ruled out. This made him the second youngest player to captain South Africa.

His class and composure will definitely be on the grabs for teams when his name goes up in the Auction.
