India faced Bangladesh in the 47th match of the 2024 T20 World Cup on Saturday, June 22, at the Sir Vivian Richards Stadium in North Sound, Antigua. Bangladesh won the toss and elected to bowl.
Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli added 39 runs for the first wicket. The second wicket came in the ninth over as Kohli was dismissed after scoring 37 runs off 28 deliveries. India lost a couple of wickets in quick succession. Shivam Dube and Hardik Pandya added 53 runs for the fifth wicket.
Pandya finished as the leading scorer for India and remained unbeaten on 50 runs off 27 deliveries. India put up a total of 196 runs for the loss of five wickets in 20 overs. Tanzim Hasan Sakib and Rishad Hossain took two wickets each for Bangladesh.
Litton Das and Tanzid Hasan added 35 runs for the first wicket for Bangladesh. Bangladesh lost four wickets before reaching the 100-run mark and struggled to maintain the required net run rate in the middle overs. Najmul Hossain Shanto was the highest scorer for Bangladesh and made 40 runs off 32 deliveries.
Bangladesh scored 146 runs for the loss of eight wickets and lost the match by 50 runs. Kuldeep Yadav was the pick of the bowlers and took three wickets for 19 runs in four overs. Hardik picked one wicket as well and won the Player of the Match award for his all-round performance.
