Girlfriend Sophie Shine shares Shikhar Dhawan’s photograph from a domestic hundred 23 years ago [In Picture]

Shikhar Dhawan's girlfriend Sophie Shine recently shared an old newspaper cutting of the former player's Cooch Behar Trophy heroics from 2002. The news was about the left-handed batter's ton against Punjab in the domestic cricket tournament.

Playing for the Delhi U19 team, Dhawan played a 104-run knock against Punjab U19 at Feroz Shah Kotla (now Arun Jaitley Stadium), Delhi. Sharing a cutout from a 23-year-old newspaper, Shine wrote in her Instagram story:

"There's a throwback."

Shikhar Dhawan later represented the India U19 team at the 2004 ICC U19 World Cup. The left-handed batter was the leading run-getter in the edition, finishing with 505 runs across seven innings. He struck three centuries and one fifty in the competition.

However, India U19 failed to clinch the trophy. The Dinesh Karthik-led team suffered a five-wicket defeat to eventual champions Pakistan U19 in the semifinals.

Dhawan made his Team India debut in October 2010 during the Men in Blue's home ODI series against Australia. The batter chalked up 10,867 runs from 288 innings across formats in international cricket.

The 39-year-old announced his retirement from international and domestic cricket on August 24, 2024. He was a key architect in India's 2013 Champions Trophy triumph, leading the scoring chart with 363 runs in five outings.

Shikhar Dhawan recently revealed that he first met Sophie Shine at a restaurant in Dubai. The star cricketer said she looked 'very beautiful' and he even remembered her outfit on the day.

Dhawan posted a clip on his official Instagram account, where he spoke about meeting Sophie for the first time. He said:

"We met at a restaurant in Dubai and it was a great feeling. Sophie was wearing a camouflage trousers and a jacket. She was looking very beautiful."

Meanwhile, Dhawan and Sophie's pairing has received a big thumbs-up from fans, and their pictures and reels have garnered a lot of traction on social media.
