England seamer Brydon Carse opened up about his injury, making a startling revelation ahead of the home Test series against India starting this month. England will host India for a five-match Test series.
Brydon Carse revealed that he wanted to amputate his toe and get rid of the injury. The pacer had developed cuts on the second toe of his left foot due to the impact caused by his front foot landing while bowling. The injury escalated during England's white-ball tour of India earlier his year, following which Carse missed the 2025 Champions Trophy as well.
However, he revealed that the medical staff told him that the toe was needed, and he then ruled out the thought of amputating the toe.
"At one stage I was going to bed thinking 'I think I could actually do this - I think I could get rid of my second toe', but then the medical staff said you need it for balance so that was quickly ruled out," he said. (via NDTV Sports)
"I try not to mention the toe in the changing room any more because people are sick of it. It is a bit of a running joke in the changing room, my second toe," he added.
The pacer had also let go of his IPL contract due to the injury and did not participate in the 2025 season after being picked by SunRisers Hyderabad (SRH). Carse only returned to action in late May, playing first-class cricket.

Brydon Carse has been included in England's squad for the first Test of the upcoming series against India. With the hosts hit by player availability blows due to injuries, Carse is a promising option in the pace department.
The young pacer has picked up 27 wickets in just five Tests that he has played so far, and has been impressive. Further, he played all three ODIs in the recent home series against West Indies as well and played a key part in England winning the series 3-0 in the end.
