What followed was a decorous demonstration of batting art by the master craftsman. He batted like a pure genius where fielders were just like spectators to him despite the big boundaries and sticky wicket where no other batter got going.

He hit 8 fours and 7 sixes en route becoming the first player to boast of 4 t-20 International centuries. West Indies hardly managed to go past the individual score of Rohit which signified the supreme quality of the knock.

While it was Dre Russ who provided the blast in the latter half of the chase, Lendl Simmons anchored the whole chase and bailed his team out of serious trouble from 19-2. It was one of the most influential yet underrated innings in the recent history of Carribean cricket where he took his side into the finals of the tournament. Simmons used all his expertise of playing at the Wankhede for Mumbai Indians as he hit 7 fours and 5 sixes in his match-winning knock.

However, he did had luck on his side as he was dismissed twice of no-ball and Jadeja misjudged his catch on the boundary as he stepped on the boundary ropes while catching the ball. Simmons made sure that he made full use of the chances he got and stood there till the end with Russell.
