#2 Trent Boult (New Zealand)

The joint-highest wicket-taker along with Mitchell Starc in the previous edition of the Cricket World Cup, time has only made Trent Boult better than what he was before. The left-arm pacer has already shown glimpses of his wicket-taking abilities with 2 successive 4 wicket-hauls in the warm-up games.

The No.2 ODI bowler has defined consistency and his ability to swing the new ball both ways is something to which the batsmen run in the opposite direction. Though he has to work on his bowling when the ball becomes a bit older, he is a bowler bound to pick up wickets and can repeat his feats, perhaps even snaring the award only for himself.

#1 Kagiso Rabada (South Africa)

Kagiso Rabada is perhaps the most complete bowler for all formats and has tasted success in all the different aspects of the game at such a young age. The Proteas quick is someone who does strike fear into the batsmen as he starts running in from his mark and his ability to hit high speeds with minimum difficulty shows his talent as a fast bowler.

That in no way means that he's an unpolished diamond because the 24-year old has all the tricks of the trade at his fingertips. He can swing the ball very well contrary to what people think and his ability to extract lateral movement from the pitch when others can't set him at a different league altogether. The discipline he has gained as a Test bowler makes him a relentless bowler and he can hit the same lengths throughout the course of a game.

His death bowling skills were clearly seen in his outstanding performance in the IPL and above all, his ability to pick up wickets makes him the favorite to become the highest wicket-taker of this World Cup

Honourable Mention: Jofra Archer (England)

Jofra Archer

Jofra Archer isn't the fast bowler who intimidates you with a really mean face or a venomously quick run-up but he strikes fear as soon as he releases the ball after completing his very simple bowling action. Hitting 145 KPH is pretty ordinary for players like him and how he manages to generate so much pace without any apparent exertion of his shoulders is a mystery.

He showcased his wicket-taking ability with a brilliant effort in the opener against South Africa and can be a contender but lacks the experience to be an outright front-runner to become the highest wicket-taker.
