World Cup 2019, South Africa vs India: Match Preview
South Africa have lost the two matches they played so far in the tournament. To add to the worries, they are sweating on the fitness of Hashim Amla, Dale Steyn, and Lung Ngidi.
India, on the other hand, are one of the favourites for the final spot. The India side is well balanced, and they expect to start their World Cup campaign on a winning note.
Quinton de Kock has a good record against India, and he is expected to give Proteas a solid start against India.
Dale Steyn is playing his last World Cup. He is very dangerous with the new ball, especially his outswingers. South Africa will expect the veteran to make early inroads into the Indian batting line-up
Virat Kohli is currently the best batsman in the modern era of world cricket. He has a huge responsibility on his shoulders, as a batsman and captain, to take India forward in this tournament.
Hardik Pandya had an excellent IPL with both the ball and bat. It will be interesting to see whether he can replicate a similar performance in English soil too.
Dale Steyn is expected to play his first match of the tournament. He will replace the injured Lungi Ngidi. If Hashim Amla is fit, he will potentially replace David Miller.
Probable XI: Hashim Amla / David Miller, Quinton de Kock (WK), Aiden Markram, Rassie van der Dussen, Faf du Plessis (C), JP Duminy, Andile Phehlukwayo, Chris Morris, Kagiso Rabada, Dale Steyn, Imran Tahir.
Ravindra Jadeja is expected to find a spot in the XI because of the depth he adds to the batting. This means either Kuldeep Yadav or Yuzvendra Chahal will sit out.
With his century performance in the warm-up match against Bangladesh, KL Rahul could well be slotted in at No. 4.
Probable XI: Rohit Sharma, Shikhar Dhawan, Virat Kohli (C), KL Rahul, MS Dhoni (WK), Hardik Pandya, Ravindra Jadeja, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Kuldeep Yadav / Yuzvendra Chahal, Jasprit Bumrah, Mohammed Shami.
