Splitgate 2 Battle Royale details explored
Splitgate 2 is bringing a new twist to the battle royale genre with its portal gameplay and connected map layout. Here is a quick overview of the new playlist:
- Each lobby will consist of 15 teams. Each team will have a maximum of 4 members. The last team standing will be crowned the winner of the match.
- The teams have to drop from an airship in their preferred spots. The map contains a total of 5 different worlds that are connected to each other through World Portals.
- Every player on the map will start out with a simple pistol and must find loot spread on the map to fight against enemies. You can also collect Credits to buy Power Weapons, Upgrades, and more from Buy Stations.
- Armor can be replenished and upgraded.
- Portal Guns can also be upgraded for stronger functionality.
- Chests (in-match loot boxes) refresh after every ring closing with higher-tier loot.
- Similar to other battle royale titles, a ring collapses to restrict the playing area. If a specific map or Biome falls outside the zone, the World Portals leading to them will deactivate.
- If you are eliminated, you can be revived by your teammates. However, if the revive timer runs out, you can respawn near the teammate you are spectating after a cooldown. If the ally you are spectating is in a fight with enemies, the respawn feature will be blocked till the battle is over.
- There are mini-events in the match that alter the gameplay experience temporarily. The Portal EMP event (disables portals) and the Drop Frenzy event (increases Air Drop frequency) are two examples mentioned in the official blog.
