Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2 allows players to host their own lobbies to play with different squads and friends or use it as a practice ground. Activision published Modern Warfare 2 and Warzone 2 with a promise to provide an improved gameplay experience. It is quite common for online multiplayer games to have a few bugs that are eventually fixed in later patches. But players have reported several issues while trying to host a private match for a limited number of participants.

Private Match issues

One of the most peculiar problems listed in the post was that players could not save the custom game mode settings to revisit later. The host would have to remember the settings and redo the entire list of options to start a similar private lobby. This makes hosting games tedious and shaves a lot of time away from playing the game.

Players are also reportedly kicked out of the ongoing matches without any warning and causing the host to create a new custom lobby with fresh settings. Similarly, there have been reports of players being kicked out of the server and sent back to the Modern Warfare 2 main menu while they remain on the private match menu.

The cross-play feature seems to have a few compatibility issues, as PlayStation 4 players cannot join inside the custom match. The UI can sometimes be bugged when loading into a private match, affecting the settings button.

Custom weapon classes usually revert to the default ones after playing a single private match. The entire lobby has to spend several minutes rebuilding their loadouts and also configuring the match settings again.

While the issues seem to be minor, their repetitive nature consumes a large amount of time. A patch targeting these problems can be deployed under the quality of life update wing as a stable private match feature helps the niche percentage of players experience the game in their own comfort zone.
