MPL Malaysia Season 14 has drawn a lot of attention from the community ever since the beginning of the tournament. After the previous week, Selangor Red Giants, last year's undefeated champion, has showcased great consistency and determination to remain at the top of the table. Meanwhile, Team Vamos has secured the second place with the same number of points.

However, the rest of the teams are also giving a close contest to each other to secure their places in the Playoffs. Malaysia is hosting the upcoming M6 World Championship, the biggest of all MLBB tournaments, and two teams from the country can secure their places by playing well in this one. Therefore, the whole Malaysian MLBB esports community is following MPL Malaysia Season 14 very closely.

This article will discuss the key highlights of MPL Malaysia Season 14 Week 2, including the current standings and the upcoming fixtures.


MPL Malaysia Season 14 Week 2: The Regular Season league table is taking shape

MPL Malaysia Season 14 Week 2 concluded on September 15, 2024 (it started on September 13, 2024), and it looks like the Regular Season League table is slowly shaping up. Selangor Red Giants and Team Vamos have managed to secure eight points to remain in the first two positions of the league table, respectively.

However, Monster Vicious, the only all-Malaysian side from MPL Malaysia Season 14, is currently breathing on their necks as it sits in the third position with five points and one match in hand. JP NINERS, despite having the same number of points, currently sits in the fourth position, as it lost one of its games so far.

Team HAQ, Red Esports, TODAK, and Team Rey are sitting in the fifth, sixth, seventh, and eighth places, respectively, in the MPL Malaysia Season 14 Regular Season league table, all with three points.

Surprisingly, HomeBois MY lost both the matches it played so far (0-2) and only managed to gather two points. It is currently fighting to stay out of the relegation zone, along with RSG MY (0-3, two points collected) at the bottom of the table.

Team Vamos, the debutant, is slowly building preassure on Selangor Red Giants, the league leader, after handing over the JP NINERS its only defeat (2-0) of the season so far on the first day of MPL Malaysia Season 14 Week 2. On the other hand, RSG MY also experienced another defeat as it lost its match against TODAK.

On the second day, Team Vamos won against Team HAQ (2-1), while Selangor Red Giants fought back to secure victory against TODAK (2-0) to ensure the first place on the league table. Lastly, Red Esports won its match against Team Rey (2-0).

On Day 3 of MPL Malaysia Season 14, RSG MY lost (0-2) to JP Niners. In the second match, Monster Vicious won their match against Red Esports and finally, on the final match, HomeBois MY lost their match against Team Rey (1-2).

MPL Malaysia Season 14 Week 2 Day 3 (September 15, 2024) also saw the celebrations of Malaysia's independence just before Malaysia Day (September 16). The Malaysian national anthem, Negaraku, echoed in each corner of the MPL MY Arena in Serdang Jaya. We will talk about it in the next segment.

MPL Malaysia Week 2 celebrated Malaysia Day

The theme of national pride and glory was prevalent in the second week of the MPL Malaysia Season 14 Regular Season. While the MPL MY Arena in Serdang Jaya echoed with the Malaysia national anthem, Todak Music launched its patriotic anthem, INI Negaraku, with a live performance.

Furthermore, the traditional sports icons, like former national footballer Zaquan Adha, national netball athlete Fariha Razak, and Astro Arena TV host Bang Med, sent their well wishes to the esports athletes of MPL Malaysia Season 14.

Bang Med talked about how the esports organizations and athletes had "put Malaysia on the world's map":

"You are all to me personal heroes because I grew up in a time where gaming was seen as a waste of time. But you've proved otherwise. You put gaming and you put Malaysia on the world's map... So again, I want to say thank you for being who you are, thank you for fighting everyday, thank you for competing for Malaysia. Because it is something I can never do and I live vicariously through you."

He also added:

"Wherever I am, on the day when you win for Malaysia, I will be proud to raise the Malaysian flag and play the Negaraku."

MPL Malaysia Week 3 fixtures

Selangor Red Giants will take on a full-strength RED Esports on Day 1 at 5:45 PM GMT+8. The Red Giants will be looking to secure its fourth straight win, but will need to contend against "Owl" and Stephen "Sensui" Jasper R. Castillo, who hail from Blacklist International, one of MLBB's most famous teams.

Seru Saturday's highlight match will be a showdown between TODAK and Team HAQ, starting at 12:30 PM GMT+8. Both teams are level on points, with the victor taking both the plaudits and the superior table standing. Fans will be especially interested to see who TODAK chooses to field.

League newcomer, Team Vamos, will take on TODAK on Day 3 at 3:00 PM GMT+8. Backed by Malaysia's most-followed content creator and ex-MPL Malaysia athlete, Faris "Soloz" Zakaria, Team Vamos will aim to pile the misery on TODAK.

The most decorated team in Malaysia has not performed up to its lofty expectations since Season 11, and will be looking to prove that the old veteran has still got it against its younger opponents.
