Ferrari has reportedly rubbished rumors of team principal Fred Vasseur's possible exit from the team by 2026. According to The Race, the Italian team refused to entertain the speculations, calling them 'nonsense.'

The Maranello-based squad entered the 2025 season with a strong driver lineup, featuring seven-time world champion Lewis Hamilton and promising talent Charles Leclerc. However, despite finishing P2 in the 2024 constructors championship, the Italian team failed to match pre-season expectations.

After nine races, the Prancing Horse is placed P2 in team standings but with a gap of 197 points to McLaren. Moreover, Leclerc and Hamilton have managed to grab fifth and sixth place, respectively, in the drivers' championship.

Amid a string of disappointing results, Italian publications Gazzetta dello Sport and Corriere della Sera reported that team principal Fred Vasseur is likely to lose his job by the end of the year, exactly when his initial three-year contract is set to expire.

Vasseur joined the Italian team in 2023 as a replacement for Mattia Binotto, and despite promising growth, the team hit a low this year. According to Italian media, Vasseur is accused of lacking deep internal knowledge of Ferrari's structure and politics. The hierarchy is reportedly unhappy with him smiling through crises and being slow to acknowledge and tackle issues.

However, while speaking to The Race, a Ferrari spokesperson rubbished the rumors of Vasseur's imminent exit. Apparently, the anonymous team representative deemed the speculation nonsense and not worth the team's time.

“It’s not even worth commenting on," the Maranello-based team said.

Apart from Vasseur, Charles Leclerc's future is also reportedly up in the air. According to Corriere della Sera, the Monegasque driver is losing confidence in the Italian team and is exploring triggering his exit clause and moving elsewhere to fulfill his dream of winning a championship.

Ferrari team principal Fred Vasseur could reportedly get fired by the end of the 2025 season due to unsatisfactory results in the first half of the ongoing season. According to Italian media, the next three races will be crucial for Vasseur. If the team fails to improve significantly in the second half, the team principal's job is likely on the line.

However, Lewis Hamilton has backed Vasseur, saying the latter is the main reason behind his move to Ferrari. Talking to the media at the Canadian Grand Prix media day, Hamilton said:

"I was just made aware of it just before I got here, so I've not read the stories. It's definitely not nice to hear that there are stories like that that are out there. I love working with Fred. Fred's the main reason I'm in this team, and I got the opportunity to be here."

Fred Vasseur and Lewis Hamilton worked together during the latter's GP2 series days. Vasseur reportedly played a big role in convincing Hamilton to switch to Ferrari by ending his 11-year stay at Mercedes.
