"I can adopt you if needed" - Hilarious banter between Charles Leclerc, Oscar Piastri and the latter's mother goes viral

Charles Leclerc of Monaco and Ferrari and Third placed qualifier Oscar Piastri of Australia and McLaren talk in parc ferme

Ferrari F1 driver Charles Leclerc and McLaren driver Oscar Piastri were involved in a hilarious banter on social media, with the former joking that he could adopt the Australian. Interestingly, Piastri is known for his dry humor in interviews and on team radio.

With the Monaco Grand Prix set to be held this weekend, Charles Leclerc will be an extremely busy man as he takes to the track in his home race. He will also be the center of attraction for most fans around the circuit.

Oscar Piastri, on his X (formerly Twitter) handle, jokingly posted about checking if he has 'Monegasque roots' to get some support from the locals ahead of the upcoming race. He tweeted:

"Searching my family tree to find any trace of Monégasque roots."

To this, Leclerc, a native of Monaco, cheekily replied:

"I can adopt you if needed."

The offer was wholeheartedly accepted by the McLaren driver, who hilariously replied:

"Call me Oscar Jack Piastri-Leclerc, want to meet my new brother Leo on Thursday if he can pop into McLaren."

Oscar Piastri's mother, Nicole, joined in on the banter between the two drivers and wrote:

"I have some questions @Charles Leclerc."

Charles Leclerc hopeful of Ferrari's chances ahead of the home race in Monaco

Charles Leclerc is looking forward to his home race this weekend, which would understandably be a special occasion for him.

Speaking in the post-race press conference in Imola, the Ferrari driver said:

"Monaco is very special for me. True that it hasn't been the most successful race for me until now. However, the pace was always there and that gives me confidence that it will be the case this year too.
"However, Monaco is so specific that we need to start a little bit from a blank page. And yeah, free practice is super, super important to build the pace little by little. But I'm confident we'll be strong. "

Charles Leclerc also spoke about his familiarity with the track in Monaco, adding:

"And as I've said many times, obviously, it's the same roads that I took by bus to go to school when I was younger. Now it's in a Formula 1 car. So that makes it extra special for me.
"So I'm really looking forward to it. To be in Monaco is a very special track I think for every driver because it's a very challenging track and extra special for me, as it's my home race."

Despite being familiar with the track, Monaco GP hasn't been the luckiest of races for the 26-year-old, who has failed to finish on the podium there since making his debut in 2018.

He has failed to convert his two pole positions in Monaco into race wins due to circumstances out of his hands, such as strategy mistakes from Ferrari in 2022 and the crash in the qualifying in 2021.
