Champions League without a doubt is the most entertaining cup competition in the world. The group stage matches are enjoyable enough, but when the Round of 16 comes, there are no better contests to be seen in football.

Over the years, we have witnessed some absolutely brilliant Champions League ties. In this article, we take a look at some of the best Round of 16 ties to have ever taken place in the Champions League

#3 Chelsea 5-4 Napoli (2011-12)

Chelsea came into this Round of 16 tie on the back of some poor Premier League form which left Napoli as the favourites. It ended up being one of the most brilliant ties in the history of the Champions League.

The first leg was played at Naples and Juan Mata gave the Blues an early lead. But Napoli pulled things back with the help of two goals - from Ezequiel Lavezzi and from the then striker of Napoli, Edinson Cavani. The first leg ended in the favor of Napoli as they went to Stamford Bridge with the scoreline reading 3-1.

In the second leg, it was again Chelsea who took the early lead with a goal from Didier Drogba. John Terry made it two nil with a goal just after half time.

Napoli pulled one back and it felt like they were going to go through, but Frank Lampard's late penalty took it to extra time, before Ivanovic scored in the 105th minute to send Chelsea through.

#2 Chelsea 5-4 Barcelona (2004-05)

This tie was one full of everything. Beautiful goals, unimaginable individual performances, improbable comebacks and dramatic emotions.

The first leg took place at the Camp Nou and Chelsea took the early lead, courtesy an own goal by Juliano Belletti. But Barcelona stormed back into the match, thanks to goals from Samuel Eto'o and Maxi Lopez.

All in all, it was a comfortable victory for Barcelona - and also an expected one.

The second leg of this tie though was one of the best matches ever. Chelsea were on fire at the start of the match as they scored three goals in the first 20 minutes. But then, it was all about the magic of Ronaldinho who pulled Barcelona back into the tie.

He scored two goals in quick succession, and the second of them was a piece of art. That little shimmy followed by the clinical strike was something out of this world, and is vividly remembered to this day.

Still, a brutal header by John Terry in the 76th minute settled the tie in Chelsea's favour. It was a tie to remember.

#1 Barcelona 6-5 Paris-Saint Germain (2016-17)

Even before you started to read this article, you would have probably guessed the first. This round of 16 tie is the most recent one and I don't think there has been any better in the Champions League.

The first leg was played in Paris and Barcelona came into this tie as sure-shot favorites. But PSG had other ideas as they just destroyed the Blaugrana in this match.

PSG scored 4 goals in the first leg, thanks to a brace from Angel Di Maria and goals from Julian Draxler and Edinson Cavani. The tie looked just about settled then, but more drama was to come.

In the second leg, the task was clear for Barcelona - score 4 goals and at least take the match into extra time. The Blaugrana started the match on fire as they blazed away to a 3-goal advantage thanks to goals from Luis Suarez, Andres Iniesta and Lionel Messi.

The 62nd strike by Edinson Cavani seemed to have settled the tie, but then something astonishing happened. Barcelona scored 3 quickfire goals in the space of the last 10 minutes to complete one of the greatest comebacks in the history of football.

Those scenes of joy at the Camp Nou were a sight to see.
