Can anyone stop Liverpool this season in the Premier League?

The race for this season's Premier League title is on and it is really an impressive one to watch. After just eight games so far, one club already seems to be running away from the rest.

Predicting the ultimate winner in the Premier League is usually a herculean task and as such, it might seem too hastily at this stage of the season. Nevertheless, we can all agree that Liverpool are in a class of their own right now with regards to their performances.

Last season, a historical high-quality title race took place between The Reds and Manchester City. Jurgen Klopp's men recorded their highest ever points tally (97) in the English top-flight but missed out on the prestigious crown as City edged them by a solitary point.

Following their UEFA Champions League triumph from the last term, Liverpool seem to be prioritising the Premier League title this season. As a matter of fact, the Merseysiders are well-poised to make history in the competition. Below, we discuss 4 reasons why the prize is already theirs to lose this term.

#4 Flawless start to the campaign

The Reds are still boasting a 100% win record in the Premier League.
The Reds are still boasting a 100% win record in the Premier League.

Liverpool looks the most determined team in England this season, going by their results and commitment in the Premier League. While others are dropping points, the Reds have maintained their impressive 100% start to the season and it doesn't look like they will slow down anytime soon.

They currently have the best defensive record in the division, having conceded just six goals from their eight matches, keeping two clean sheets in the process. They've also impressed going forward, recording a whopping 20 goals to their names as the likes of Mohamed Salah, Sadio Mane and Roberto Firmino continue to run riot in front of goal.

Jurgen Klopp's men are riding high on momentum in the Premier League this season. They've opened up an 8-point advantage at the top of the table. Given their impressive level of performance at the moment, it doesn't look like anyone can match their pace in the English top division this term.

#3 Manchester City's slump

Since Pep Guardiola left Bayern Munich to take on the challenge of the Premier League, Manchester City have always been rated among the favourites to claim the league title. Following their back-to-back triumphs, it looks like they might finally concede the title this term.

After watching the eight games played in the English top-flight so far, many are already predicting that the Cityzens will not be able to make it three in a row this season. That is because of their inconsistent start to the term which has allowed Liverpool to move far ahead.

Truly, it might appear too early to predict the actual winner of the league at this stage of the campaign as every contesting team still has a mathematical chance of coming out on top. But, there's no doubt City remains the side that could pose the biggest threat to Liverpool. Unfortunately, the holders are not looking ready for that challenge just at this moment.

In their eight games so far this season, Pep Guardiola's men have recorded five victories, a draw and two defeats. This leaves them with 16 points from a possible 24. On the other hand, Liverpool have 24 points to their name. Conceding eight points in the title race at this stage of the term isn't a good sign. It won't come as a surprise if the Manchester club cannot stop their arch-rivals.

#2 The Premier League is Liverpool's priority

Liverpool fans can dream again. This is how far Jurgen Klopp has taken them in four seasons after 29 years of mediocrity in the Premier League. The coveted crown isn't far away anymore, it is very much within their reach.

The last time Liverpool claimed the English league title was in the 1989-90 season when they cruised to the title under the management of Kenny Dalgish. Since that period, the fans have bitterly watched rival clubs like Chelsea, Arsenal, Manchester United, Manchester City and even Leicester win the League.

They almost got the job done last season but were unfortunate to narrowly concede it to Manchester City by just a point. Even the UEFA Champions League triumph wasn't enough to compensate some fans who wished they had paraded the Premier League title instead.

Following that heartbreak, there's just one thing topping the objectives of the Merseysiders - to win the Premier League. They are very determined to conquer English football this season and they've taken to the pitch to prove their credentials. A 100% start to the term is the best possible way to begin the journey.

#1 The team has gelled

Jurgen Klopp has turned Anfield into a fortress.
Jurgen Klopp has turned Anfield into a fortress.

Jurgen Klopp left Borussia Dortmund to take charge of Liverpool in the summer of 2015. Since then, the German has taken the club from strength to strength. The Reds have quickly transformed into a world-class team and it has been a great ride for the fans.

In his debut campaign, as one would expect with a new manager, the Merseysiders had an indifferent form. Collecting the baton from Bredgan Rogers, it took him some time to restructure and develop the team in his image.

Since that year, however, Liverpool have kept moving forward. The players have grown together and created the required balance and chemistry a team needs. They've learned various specifics of the game together and have gelled as an aggressive and fearless team. Exactly the way Jurgen Klopp likes.

Progressively, the coach signed many players that upgraded the club over this period. Every area of the team right now is an upgrade to what he inherited. The players have gotten along well together and are ready to make history in the Premier League.
