One of the best centre-backs in the world during his prime, Fabio Cannavaro has enjoyed an interesting career as a football manager.

The Italian began his managerial career with Guangzhou in 2014 but was abruptly removed from his position in 2015. After stints with Saudi Arabian club Al-Nassr and Chinese club Tianjin Quanjian, Cannavaro returned to Guangzhou as manager in 2017, a position he still occupies.

The 47-year old also managed the China national team briefly in 2019 but stepped down a month later to focus on his club duties. Guangzhou are currently third in their Chinese Super League group.

An Atletico Madrid legend, Diego Simeone has been the manager of the La Liga giants since 2011 and has transformed the club's fortunes during his stint.

Having enjoyed a successful spell as a player for Atletico Madrid, Simeone replaced Gregorio Manzano as the new manager of the club. The Argentine proved to be a shrewd acquisition, as Atletico Madrid's aggressive and compact style of play has often frustrated opponents.

Atletico Madrid have won the La Liga title once and the Europa League twice under Simeone, while also taking them to the Champions League final on two occasions. They are currently atop the 2020-21 La Liga table.
