As we move in to the off-season, an unprecedented amount of managerial movement around Europe will surely see an already frantic transfer market go in to overdrive. This will give plenty of opportunities for transfer rumour and gossip. So how much of it is realistic?

Wayne Rooney, 27, will meet with new Manchester United manager David Moyes to discuss his future, as Chelsea and Arsenal both prepare to bid for the England striker if he wants to leave the Premier League champions.

What’s the story? This needs to be sorted out as quickly as possible and it does no one any favours to drag it on. Rooney wants out, he has bad blood with Moyes.Does it make sense? It’s hard to picture United selling Rooney in England rather than to one of these suitors but with Bayern seemingly happy with Lewandowski and Real Madrid and Barcelona pretty much full up his options are running out. Chelsea could use him for a few years although his versatility is less important there considering all the other options. Arsenal are signing Higuain so seem to be out of the running. Is the price right? So far reports of £30m seem really low. United might only consider £40m+ or they may take the £30m to deal with the headache. Will it happen? 7/10: Chelsea – loads of other options but missing out on Cavani and Falcao could bring him up their list. 3/10: Arsenal – Signing a world class striker for £22m already and don’t operate a two forward system.

Manchester United have contacted Borussia Dortmund striker Robert Lewandowski, 24, to ask to be kept aware of his availability, as doubts grow about him moving to Bayern Munich this summer. The Poland international is an alternative target if Real Madrid forward Cristiano Ronaldo, 28, cannot be convinced to return to Old Trafford.

What’s the story? United have admired Lewandowski for a long time but his heart is set on Munich,Does it make sense? Yes. They don’t lose anything by being keep aware of the situation, which Borussia Dortmund have completely misplayed, and if they somehow could persuade him he’d be a wonderful welcome gift for David Moyes. Is the price right? £30m is about right given this is the last year of his contract but Dortmund would probably take less to get him away from Munich. Will it happen? 1/10 – Can’t be ignored but he’s going to Bayern either this summer of next barring a dramatic swing in mindset.

Newcastle midfielder Yohan Cabaye, 27, is furious that new director of football Joe Kinnear mispronounced his name in a radio interview. Paris St-Germain and Monaco are ready to take advantage of the situation.

What’s the story? If Cabaye needed an excuse to work his way out of Newcastle and back to France Kinnear presented it to him on a plate. Calling him Yohan ‘Kebab’ in a radio interview in England oozed disrespect.Does it make sense? Yes. It’s horrible having someone not bother to learn your name, let alone comparing you to a greasy foodstuff. Also football wise, Champions League with PSG and in 2014/15 Monaco or another relegation battle at soon to be turmoil struck Newcastle? Is the price right? Newcastle seem to want £23-25m which is insane but then they are negotiating with two French moneybags’ with motive to sign him. Will it happen? 9/10: PSG – regardless of the fact they don’t need him, they do need to make a splash signing to keep momentum up. 5/10: Monaco – No immediate Champions League football.

Cardiff have dropped out of the running to sign Celtic defensive midfielder Victor Wanyama, 21, after the Kenya international was valued at £10m.

Full story: Wales Online

What’s the story? If they’ve dropped out at £10m they were never in the running. Celtic’s valuation on Wanyama has been publicly north of £20m in the past, let alone £10m.Does it make sense? Yes, it would have done. Cardiff are a little short on athleticism, which is unusual for a newly promoted Championship side, and Wanyama’s strength and power would have been a great addition. Is the price right? It’s probably about right considering he is only 21 and has looked good in the Champions League. Surprising that Cardiff can’t afford it though as they are heavily backed with Malaysian money. Will it happen? 3/10 – Wouldn’t necessarily right this off just yet as if it gets to later in the summer and he is still at Celtic and Cardiff are struggling for recruits they may be panicked in to it.

Arsenal are considering whether to activate the £23m release clause in 25-year-old Everton midfielder Marouane Fellaini’s contract.

Full story: London Evening Standard

What’s the story? All systems go at Arsenal. Having signed Higuain they are supposedly looking at Fellaini.Does it make sense? Kind of, but it depends on what role they foresee for him. If they are spending £23m just to have him sit in front of the defence it’s a waste, but if they are letting him surge and roam around the midfield which is when he is at his most dangerous, it makes perfect sense. Is the price right? Yep.Will it happen? 6/10 – It could do but as ever with Arsenal, until there is proof they want to spend money it’s a hard one to call with certainty.
