Manchester City Player Ratings :

Zack Steffen - 7/10

Making his Premier League debut, the 25-year old Manchester City custodian Zack Steffen was undecisive and shaky. Although he didn't have much to do on the night against an out-of-sorts Chelsea attack, the American got better as the game went on. Nevertheless, he would be disappointed at not keeping a clean sheet.

Joao Cancelo - 7.5/10

Joao Cancelo was tidy throughout, barely giving Pulisic an inch down the flank. He threaded a beautiful through-ball to Kevin de Bruyne, but the chance went begging for Manchester City. However, with a good showing against Chelsea, the Portuguese player is making a case to become Manchester City's first-choice right-back instead of Kyle Walker.

John Stones - 7/10

After fighting his way back into Pep Guardiola's side in recent weeks in the absence of Aymeric Laporte and Nathan Ake, John Stones yet again did enough to help his side to a win against a fellow title contender. Stones could have done better to prevent Chelsea's goal right at the death, but it was a good performance overall from the Englishman.

Ruben Dias - 8/10

Manchester City have kept eight clean sheets in their last eleven games, and a lot of that is attributable to the emergence of Ruben Dias as a mainstay in defence.

The 23-year-old Portuguese summer signing hardly put a foot wrong all night, keeping Timo Werner largely quiet. He also bossed most of the aerial duels and restricted Hakim Ziyech to crosses from far out.

Oleksandr Zinchenko - 7.5/10

Oleksandr Zinchenko put in a solid shift and contained Hakim Ziyech in Chelsea's right flank very well. The Ukrainian left-back put in the cross that led to Manchester City's opener. He also linked up with Foden and De Bruyne on the left flank.

Ilkay Gundogan - 8.5/10

Ilkay Gundogan put on yet another stunning display as his side raced off to a 3-0 lead by half-time. Gundogan scored Manchester City's opener with a classy finish, turning his marker and quickly taking a shot towards the bottom corner. He faded off a bit in the second half, but by then the damage was well and truly done.

Rodri - 7/10

Rodri conceded a penalty, a call that VAR rescinded, playing a back-pass that resulted in an indirect free-kick for Chelsea. However, he grew into the game, brilliantly fending off the likes of Kante and Kovacic to help Manchester City to a commanding win.

Bernardo Silva - 7/10

Bernardo Silva was probably the least active Manchester City player on the pitch. He hardly got the ball for large swathes of the game. Silva did complete a few successful dribbles when he was on the ball but created no chances of note.

The Portuguese has been enduring a rough patch off late and needs to get back to his very best if Manchester City are to keep up their quest for the Premier league title.

Kevin De Bruyne - 9/10

Kevin De Bruyne was deservingly the Player of the Match. He ran the show in midfield, dropping deep to link up play with his defence, and was at the right place at the right time to score his side's third. The Belgian playmaker has now scored in his last three games against Chelsea.

The 29-year old showed yet again why he is the most vital cog in Guardiola's wheel. His off-the-ball movement was exceptional, and he combined that with his positional sense to fetch two of Manchester City's three goals on the night.

Phil Foden - 8.5/10

After a fabulous end to 2020 for both club and country, Phil Foden seems to have brought his good form into 2021 with yet another electric display.

Renowned for his magical left foot, the 20-year-old ran Azpilicueta and Zouma rugged and created chances galore. He converted a low cross from Kevin de Bruyne with a cute finish at the near post.

Raheem Sterling - 8/10

Starting on the right flank, Raheem Sterling took time to get into his groove, as Ben Chilwell was hot on his heels, and a majority of Manchester City's attacks started from the left flank.

However, after settling in, Sterling's pace was too hot to handle for Thiago Silva and co, as he played one-twos with De Bruyne and got into good crossing positions within the box.

Sterling outpaced Kante with a glorious solo run on the counter, nearly messed up a simple goal-scoring chance only for Kevin de Bruyne to cover up for his mistake. While his crossing has a lot to be desired, Sterling had a great game overall.

Ratings of Manchester City Substitutes :

Fernandinho - 7.5/10

The Brazilian veteran Fernandinho came on for Gundogan in the 75th minute and seamlessly slotted in alongside Rodri to help his side see out the win.

Sergio Aguero, Riyad Mahrez - N/A.
