Hit: Timo Werner (Chelsea)

Like his Chelsea teammate Ziyech, this was a much-improved performance from Timo Werner, who bagged a wonderful assist for the Moroccan from a superb break.

Tuchel's decision to start Werner over Olivier Giroud raised eyebrows, as the Frenchman has been their main source of goals in the competition, while Werner had missed the weekend's draw to Leeds United.

But the former RB Leipzig star fully justified his inclusion on the night.

His sprint in the build-up to Ziyech's opener was classy, as he bombed into Atletico Madrid's box and crossed to the winger with a sublime pass.

As well as setting up the goal, Werner attempted three shots himself, while also making nine touches in the opposition box, as he flexed Atletico Madrid inside out with his pace and quick movements.

Flop: Stefan Savic (Atletico Madrid)

Luis Suarez would be glad to see he's got company in terms of a disaster class on the night, as Stefan Savic dropped one too.

The former Manchester City defender was brutally nutmegged by Werner in the build-up to Ziyech's goal and was later sent off late on.

A penalty-box skirmish with Rudiger saw the Montenegrin throw an elbow, which the referee was quick to spot.

Even though it wasn't as nasty as the Chelsea centre-back made it look so with his theatrics, that was still construed as violent conduct, and Savic was shown a straight red card.

Atletico Madrid were still 0-1 down at the time, but the numerical disadvantage only served to compound their misery.

Hit: N'Golo Kante (Chelsea)

The Chelsea midfield maestro made 13 ball recoveries against the Rojiblancos.

N'Golo Kante was at it again, as he put up an impressive outing against Atletico Madrid.

The hard-working Frenchman did what he does best - cover every blade of grass and keep Chelsea ticking.

He set the tone for his side's attack with excellent, incisive passes, as well as energetic runs, while completing four of seven attempted dribbles.

Whenever the situation demanded, N'Golo Kante stood up and made his presence felt in defence, making two clearances and as many interceptions.
