Real Madrid Player Ratings

Thibaut Courtois — 8/10

Easily Real Madrid's best player against Chelsea. Kept them in the tie with a string of game-defining saves to deny the likes of Havertz and Kante. Was ultimately let down by a poor defence.

Eder Militao — 5.5/10

Pushed forward regularly and tried to support Vinicius Jr, but was vulnerable against Mount at the back. He won six of his eight duels and was the best of the three Blancos centre-halves, but that, unfortunately, doesn't say too much.

Sergio Ramos — 5/10

His quality and credentials for big games is undeniable, but it was evident that he hadn't played in months. Ramos was constantly run over and failed to cope with wave after wave of Chelsea attacks, making an error in judgment for the first goal. Picked up his 38th UCL yellow card for a shove on Azpilicueta.

Nacho Fernandez — 4.5/10

Ripped apart on the left of defence by Werner, Havertz, and Kante, who sent him packing for the second goal. Was dragged around throughout the 90 minutes and picked up a yellow card for a silly foul. Poor outing.

Vinicius Jr — 5.5/10

Was surprisingly deployed at wing-back to help deal with Chilwell's marauding runs on the left but lost his battle with the Englishman. Hooked after the hour-mark after failing to stretch Chelsea on the flanks and couldn't add any real attacking threat either.

Luka Modric — 6/10

Modric was one of only a few players who looked capable of beating Chelsea's relentless press and set up a superb chance for Benzema in the first 45. Couldn't add much else of note to the game. Created two chances, completed three take-ons, and had 104 touches, only second to Kroos.

Casemiro — 5/10

Was a colossus for Real Madrid in nearly every game heading into the semi-finals, but Casemiro was far from his best against Chelsea. Couldn't get to grips with the Blues' midfield, and Kante, in particular, proved to be a handful. Hooked with 15 minutes to go.

Toni Kroos — 6/10

Much like Modric, Kroos couldn't help Real Madrid establish any sort of footing or dominance in the middle third and was completely overrun. Had more touches than anyone on the pitch (107) but couldn't help his side break down a stubborn Blues unit.

Ferland Mendy — 4.5/10

Took up good positions high up the pitch and tried to get into the game, but it was clear that he hadn't played in a while and was short on fitness. Was a passenger for large parts and failed to provide anything of note. Hooked after the hour-mark.

Eden Hazard — 4.5/10

On a special night for the Belgian, he was unfortunately another passenger and failed to find a way into the game. Azpilicueta shackled him on the left, and he couldn't get past a wall of blue in the middle.

Karim Benzema — 6/10

Benzema was the only Real Madrid player to have caused Mendy any real trouble during the game as he stung the Senegalese's palms with a superb effort in the first half and brought out another great save. Was isolated for large parts and was given very little support.

Substitutes

Fede Valverde (63', Mendy) — 6/10

Came on to take up a right wing-back role on the right and did a decent job, and ended up making a superb block to deny a great opportunity.

Marco Asensio (63', Militao) — 5/10

Bar one harmless shot, didn't really have any noteworthy contribution.

Rodrygo (76', Casemiro) — N/A

Mariano Diaz (89', Hazard) — N/A
