The Higuain-to-Chelsea deal looks almost done

It has been an exhilarating time for Chelsea fans with so many news stories swirling around their club. A lot of the rumours concern both incomings and outgoings as the Blues hierarchy look to deliver a transfer campaign in line with the manager, Maurizio Sarri's wishes.

Here is a look at some of the latest transfer stories involving the West London side:

#1 Striking target may be acquired shortly

It is no longer news that Chelsea is desperately seeking a striker to help the team. Alvaro Morata and Olivier Giroud have failed miserably and are no longer trusted by Sarri.

With this in mind, the board led by transfer guru, Mariana Granovskaia have been looking for a striker to help score the goals that will guarantee UEFA Champions League football next season.

The Blues had earlier identified Argentine hotshot, Gonzalo Higuain as the ideal candidate. However, the former Real Madrid player is currently on loan at AC Milan, making negotiations with parent club; Juventus a struggle.

According to SkyItalia, Chelsea has finally come to an agreement with Juve for the 31-year-old. While the financial details of the deal remain unknown, it will be on an initial 6-month loan with the option to increase to another 12 months.

#2 Blues make contact for exciting winger

With the rumours flying around that Eden Hazard will not sign a new deal to stay at Stamford Bridge, it seems the club are already planning for life after him.

According to TalkSPORT, Blues management has made contact with the agent of Bayer Leverkusen winger, Leon Bailey. Chelsea has long had an interest in the 22-year-old Jamaican and it seems they are about to make good on that interest.

The left-footer is capable of playing anywhere across the frontline and was a standout player in the Bundesliga last season. He has had a troubled season this term but following the sacking of manager, Heiko Herrlich, Bailey has found form under new Werkself manager, Peter Bosz.

AS Roma, Real Madrid and Atletico Madrid are among the clubs that have been linked to the Jamaican star. The Blues will need to move quickly if they are to secure his services.

#3 Transfer of misfiring striker on hold

Morata is on his way back to Spain
Morata is on his way back to Spain

Morata has endured a miserable time at Stamford Bridge since he joined last season. The 26-year-old has struggled to settle in England since his £58m move from Real Madrid last season. He arrived with much fanfare but has let himself and the club down, struggling with confidence and his touch in front of goal.

According to Goal.com, Morata's agents have agreed on a deal that will see the Spanish international join Atletico Madrid on a 6-month loan deal for £2.6m. There is an option to sign permanently for £35.2m after the loan elapses.

However, the Spanish giants are strapped for cash at the moment and need to get rid of two of their own summer signings; Nikola Kalinic and Gelson Martins to raise the funds for Morata. The Blues want to conclude the Morata deal as soon as possible as it is holding up the Higuain loan agreement with Juventus.
