Hello and welcome to the Premier League transfer news and rumours of the day! Here are the top stories of the day surrounding the Premiership!

Manchester madness upfront

Former Premier League striker Dave Kitson has stated that the Red Devils are going to miss out on certain world-class talents if they fail to make it to the Champions League next season.

He stated the example of Matthijs De Ligt, citing that the Old Trafford outfit need a defender but they won’t be able to attract him if they don’t qualify for Europe’s premier competition.

"[Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has] got to get to the Champions League because there’s going to be certain players… They need a centre half, De Ligt at Ajax for example, €100m (£86m)," Kitson said.

"They could have gone out and got him. If they don’t get into the Champions League, that’s an 18-year-old kid they can’t attract anymore.

"The Champions League is massive for them."

In the meantime, pundit Jermaine Jenas has claimed that a lot of United players want to leave the club in the summer. He also believes that there are some players who don’t have the ability to play for a club like Manchester United.

He also added that the players who are working hard on the pitch are the ones who actually are grateful to be at the club.

"I think he’s got a mixture of players that have got their eye on leaving Manchester United and a mixture of players that are not good enough to play for Manchester United," Jenas said.

"That is the problem. In his eleven today, I saw too many of those [players].

"The players that are actually putting in the effort are the players for me that feel grateful to be at Manchester United."

Timo Werner has been on the radar of Liverpool for a while now and the good news for the Reds is that the striker has rejected the possibility of signing a new contract with the German outfit.

However, that doesn’t mean that his mind can’t be changed as according to Yussuf Poulsen, he will do his best to convince the German forward to stick with the team as they have a great chemistry on the pitch.

He did, however, add that in the end, the decision to stay or leave was to be taken by the forward himself.

“If I could persuade him, I would do it. Timo and I, that’s a great partnership, and of course I wish he stays here. But it is his decision and his career,” he said.

Bayern Munich are also in the race for the striker.

And one of their targets now is Niklas Sule. The Bayern defender is on the radar of the Old Trafford, who have been in need of a good defender for a long time now. According to reports, Bayern could be willing to look at offers that exceed the scale of £50 million.

Meanwhile, speaking of Bayern Munich, the one player that they desperately wanted in the winter market was Callum Hudson-Odoi. The Bavarians had seen two bids rejected by Chelsea, who also saw their contract extension offer get the same treatment from the youngster.

And now, Telegraph claim that they are going to offer him a new contract once again.

The race for a top-four finish is currently on between the two North London club with Spurs only slightly ahead of their bitter rivals. It seems like they are going to continue their fight beyond the season – but it will be in the transfer market at the time.

Both clubs need to sign players in order to keep up with the rest and in this regard, Arsenal and Tottenham are identifying the players that they would like to sign.

According to UOL, Arsenal are close to signing Brazilian wonderkid Gabriel Martinelli as an agreement for the player has been reached. The player had been offered to other Premier League clubs but Gunners showed the most interest.

Meanwhile, Spurs, who haven’t signed a single player over the last two transfer windows, are looking at the possibility of signing Joachim Andersen from Sampdoria, who want €40 million for the player.
